Culture in Action

In May 1999 and again in October 2000, the Australian Federal Government granted funds for a touring Exhibition designed to capture and promote an awareness of the historical and cultural significance of some of Australia's dry stone walls.

The Dry Stone Wall Exhibition consisted of 24 visual and narrative panels that captured the mood and character of dry stone walls as a culturally important human contribution to the Australian Landscape.

Local Government municipalities from Victoria and New South Wales, Parks Victoria and Sydney’s Royal Botanic Gardens were represented.
In May this year the exhibition was awarded “Best Exhibit” at the Victorian Community History Awards, in Parliament House - an annual event that recognises the importance of local and community history.

Casualife Furniture makes an impression in Dubai

This colourful and eye-catching banner stand was used with dramatic effect as an exhibit stand backdrop in May this year at a Hotel Show Exhibition in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

The purpose of attending this exhibition was for Casualife Furniture to showcase their outdoor settings, ensuring that attendees could not only see and feel the quality workmanship, but also take away a lasting impression of the ambience created when displayed on location. The visually appealing backdrop ensured nothing was left to their imagination, with graphic images highlighting the sophisticated and classy effect of these settings when displayed poolside at some of the finest hotels in the world.

Strong corporate branding was achieved with the exhibit capturing the attention of people who had previously admired the settings in these prestigious hotels, but were now able to establish the link with Casualife Furniture as the supplier.

Streets opens ice cream lovers' paradise in Melbourne

The inaugural Streets Ice-cream franchise store first opened its doors in November 2002, delighting patrons of a busy Sydney suburban shopping centre. Following Sydney’s success, their national program was expanded with the first Melbourne store opening at Highpoint Shopping Centre, in July of this year.

The store fitout was contracted to Australiasian Shopfitting with Associated Signs compiling the signage package, and outsourcing the specialist print work to Evan Evans.

Streets innovative new concept store includes the ‘chill grill’ - an icy grill, similar in look to a BBQ hotplate, used to mix customer-selected combinations of scrumptious Streets ice creams. It also offers patrons a selection of mini ‘Magnum’s’ that they can purchase accompanied by a dipping cup of liquid chocolate with a hint of coffee.

A palette of colourful and mouth-watering visuals was employed to stimulate the senses and wet the appetite.

With the opening taking place just prior to school holidays, the positive feedback was evident from the icecream feeding frenzy that followed. It was hard to believe that outside the shopping centre walls, the weather was reminiscent of a typical winters day in Melbourne.

Shell adds a spark to outdoor image

In late June this year, the new headquarters for Shell Companies Australia was opened in Hawthorn, an inner city suburb of Melbourne. The engineering and assembly of the signage was contracted to Associated Signs who outsourced the specialised printing to the Evan Evans Group.

Designed to display strong corporate branding throughout the office complex, outdoor solvent digital ink was used for both internal and external wall murals which were face mounted to clear acrylic for durability and visual effect.

The pecton, Shell’s well recognised logo, was used extensively in the design which extended from the external grounds of the building, right through to reception and the internal foyers. The mural story board theme features graphic images and text highlighting the history of the company and their journey from conception into the 21st century.

These visuals included the company’s impact on Australia’s heritage, its contribution to today’s society, and its sustainability into the future. The visuals continue with a feature wall depicting the company’s principles and the many faces of the people who make up the organisation. Still not complete, this theme will be broadened with a war memorial wall erected, which will no doubt draw further attention to what is already becoming a visually appealing landmark in suburban Hawthorn.

Luxury living on the Docks

As with any new property development, visual imagery is of utmost importance to bring to life the look, feel and design of the residence in question. For the Docklands riverfront apartments, this was no different. The Evan Evans Group was contracted for the specialised print technology required to produce vibrant and appealing images that only high resolution digital printing can capture. These images were used to reflect not only the culture of Melbourne, but the atmosphere of the café style way of life commonly found in the exclusive Docklands precinct.

The concept of luxury style living was clearly communicated with multi level floor plans displayed on a wall mounted mural dividing the display suite from the reception area and foyer. Strategically placed on another wall, directly opposite a mirror for visual effect, was a digitally printed image on satin laminated paper featuring the Docklands area and creating the feel and ambience of this location at night. Of a more practical nature were wall mounted displays of swatch boards featuring graphic visuals together with text descriptors and swatches of various timber, carpet, and laminates, allowing individuals to select their own choice of apartment features.

With such dynamic visuals to compliment the display suites replicated kitchen; bathroom; and living quarters together with small scale model of the complex, the designers were able to create a buzz of excitement for prospective buyers of these luxury lifestyle apartments.

New lip gloss ‘smacks’ of success

Riding on the success of her participation in the hit reality TV show ‘Big Brother’ Jemma has capitalised on her reputation for applying lip gloss by launching her own “Jemma cosmetics” range. The official launch took place in early September in Priceline and selected cosmetic retailers nationwide. The catch phrase ‘take me I’m yours’ created further attention to the visually appealing photos of the pouted lips and attractive face behind the name.

In collaboration with Cyan International, cosmetic display units were produced for the range, with Evan Evans print technology utilised to produce a near perfect colour match accurately reflecting the soft and subtle skin complexion of the original artwork. These images were digitally printed on poster paper film and mounted to perspex POS display stands containing the full range of cosmetics and takeaway postcards with ‘liptips’ ensuring customers make the best selection from the range.

The first week’s response was extremely positive with the eye-catching and attractive displays drawing the attention of passing store traffic.
