1. Cleaning:
   • Gentle Wash: Use a mild detergent to preserve the flag's colour and fabric. Avoid bleach and harsh chemicals, as they can damage the material.
   • Machine Wash: If machine washing is required, place the flag in a mesh laundry bag and select a gentle cycle with cold water to protect the fabric.
   • Drying: Lay the flag flat to air dry or hang it in a well-ventilated area. Avoid tumble drying, as high heat can cause shrinkage or damage.
2. Storage:
   • Proper Storage: Ensure the flag is fully dry before storing it to prevent mildew or mould. Keep it in a cool, dry area, out of direct sunlight to maintain its colours and fabric strength.
3. Folding the Malaysia Flag:
   • Prepare the surface: Lay the Malaysia flag on a clean, flat surface with the front (design) side facing up for proper folding.
   • Fold lengthwise: Fold the flag in half lengthwise by bringing the bottom edge to meet the top, ensuring the crescent and star remain facing outward.
   • Align the hoist side: Fold the flag again lengthwise, this time with the hoist side (the side with the attachment for the flagpole) on the outside, keeping the flag's design visible.
   • Make a narrow fold: Fold the flag once more lengthwise to create a smaller, more manageable strip, keeping the edges aligned and the design intact.
   • Start folding diagonally: Begin folding the flag from the bottom right corner in a diagonal, triangular shape toward the top of the flag.
   • Continue folding: Keep folding in triangles, working your way up the flag, until it is neatly compacted into a triangle or rectangle shape.
4. Handling:
   • Avoid Sharp Objects: Keep the flag away from rough surfaces or sharp objects that could cause snags or tears.
   • Secure Installation: Ensure the flag is securely fastened to its pole, allowing it to move freely without any restrictions.
   • Limit Exposure: To extend the life of the flag, take it down during extreme weather or in the evening to minimise wear from harsh elements.
5. Repairs:
   • Minor Repairs: If you spot any fraying or wear, temporarily replace the flag with a spare and have it professionally mended by a skilled seamstress.

Flying the Malaysia Flag:

• Raising the Flag:
  • Before raising, check that the flag is clean and in good condition.
  • Attaching with Header and Loops: When using a flag with a header and loops, position the loops over the flagpole and secure them with the provided clips or fasteners, ensuring a tight and even display.
  • Attaching with Vertical Sleeve: For flags featuring a vertical sleeve, slide the sleeve onto the flagpole, ensuring a secure fit that offers a neat and polished appearance.
  • Raise the flag briskly and smoothly, taking care that it does not touch the ground.
• Displaying the Flag:
  • The Malaysia flag can be flown either vertically or horizontally, with the crescent and star positioned to the left or top when viewed.
  • If displaying multiple flags, place the Malaysia flag at the highest point or to the right in a horizontal arrangement.
  • Never display the flag upside down, and avoid it touching the ground, other objects, or the floor.
• Flying the Flag at Half-Mast:
  • To show respect or mourning for a national tragedy or a prominent leader’s death, the Malaysia flag should be flown at half-mast.
  • Raise the flag to the top of the pole first, then lower it to the halfway mark.
  • Once the mourning period concludes, raise the flag back to full mast.
• Flag Etiquette During Sunrise and Sunset:
  • The flag should be raised at sunrise and lowered at sunset, ensuring it is only displayed during daylight hours.
  • If the flag is flown overnight, it must be properly illuminated, especially if displayed outside of business hours.

• Weather Conditions:
