Supporting Our SES Heroes: Wear Orange Wednesday 2025 in Bairnsdale

WearOrangeWednesday

When you get to work with a group as inspiring as the Victorian State Emergency Service (VICSES), it’s not just another job — it’s a privilege. At Evan Evans, we were honoured to support Wear Orange Wednesday (WOW) 2025 by producing custom street pole banners proudly displayed in Main Street, Bairnsdale and proudly printed in Coburg North, Melbourne.

This nationwide initiative shines a light on the extraordinary volunteers of the SES who selflessly serve their communities during emergencies — and this year, we were thrilled to help amplify that message in bold, vibrant colour.

Bringing Visibility to Volunteer Heroes

In partnership with VICSES and East Gippsland Shire Council, our team produced six striking 3.6-metre street pole banners featuring real SES volunteers and the unmistakable orange branding of WOW Day. Displayed in the heart of Bairnsdale’s median strip, these banners are more than just signage — they’re a public thank-you.

“Our volunteers have had an incredibly challenging few years, with a notable increase in demand for our services from the community. Over the last 12 months (May 2024 – May 2025), VICSES volunteers received over 35,000 requests for assistance. That’s over 300,000 hours of support responding to emergency incidents. Our volunteers are the backbone of our organisation, and come from all walks of life, ages, and backgrounds.”
— VICSES Events Team

These words say it all — a tireless group of volunteers from every corner of the community showing up when it matters most.

A Project Close to the Heart

This project held personal significance for our team, especially for Sales Manager René Watson, who proudly shared:

“My friend Faye volunteers with the Warragul Unit and has done so for years. I’m incredibly proud of her and proud that we can support the organisation she dedicates herself to.”

From early quotes and artwork preparation to sewing and delivery, our event signage solutions are always crafted with care — but projects like these carry an extra layer of meaning.

Signage That Stands for Something

We believe in the power of custom banners to tell stories, spark recognition, and strengthen communities. These street pole banners aren’t just printed fabric — they’re symbols of gratitude, resilience, and unity. As they wave above Bairnsdale’s streets, they remind all of us to stop and thank the SES volunteers who work selflessly every day.
