product-care
xFor lasting quality and vibrant colours of the flag, please follow these care guidelines:
- Cleaning:
- Gentle Washing: Always wash flags using a mild detergent to preserve the colours. Avoid bleach or harsh chemicals that could cause fading or fabric damage.
- Machine Wash: If machine washing is necessary, opt for a gentle cycle with cold water. Place the flag inside a mesh laundry bag to prevent snagging.
- Air Drying: Lay the flag flat or hang it to air dry. Do not tumble dry, as high heat can cause the fabric to shrink or deteriorate.
- Storage:
- Proper Storage: Ensure the flag is completely dry before storing. Keep it in a cool, dry place to prevent moisture damage and maintain its condition.
- Folding the Australia Day Flag:
- Fold the flag lengthwise in half, bringing the bottom edge to meet the top.
- Fold again lengthwise, ensuring the flag remains neatly aligned.
- Carefully fold the flag into thirds or quarters, depending on the size, to create a compact and manageable shape.
- Store the folded flag in a dry, safe location to avoid creasing or damage.
- Handling:
- Avoid Sharp Objects: Keep the flag away from sharp items or rough surfaces that could cause snags or tears.
- Secure Installation: Ensure the flag is securely attached to the flagpole to avoid unnecessary strain on the fabric.
- Minimise Exposure: Bring the flag inside during extreme weather conditions or overnight to preserve its appearance and integrity.
- Repairs:
- Minor Repairs: For small tears or fraying, consider replacing the flag or take it to a professional seamstress for repairs.
- Replacement: When the flag shows significant signs of wear, it may be time to replace it to maintain its vibrant look during important events.
Flying the Australia Day Flag:
- Raising the Flag:
- Ensure the flagpole is sturdy and free from obstructions before raising the flag.
- Begin by attaching the flag securely to the flagpole using the loops.
- Raise the flag briskly, ensuring it reaches the top of the flagpole without touching the ground.
- Displaying the Flag:
- Ensure the flag is fully extended and visible, free from any folds or creases that may obscure its design.
- For events, the flag should be displayed for the duration of the celebration and taken down at the end of the day.
- Weather Conditions:
- During inclement weather, such as heavy rain, high winds, or storms, it is recommended to lower the flag to prevent damage.
- Avoid displaying the flag in extreme conditions like gusty winds or thunderstorms, as this can cause the fabric to tear or become faded.
- In cases of heavy rain, the flag should be removed and dried to prevent water damage or mildew. Ensure it is thoroughly dry before storing or re-displaying.
- For flags displayed outdoors for extended periods, consider using weather-resistant flags designed for durability in various weather conditions.
By following these guidelines, your flag will retain its vibrant colours and remain in excellent condition for many years.
