product-care
xFor lasting quality and vibrant colours of the flag, please follow these care guidelines:
-
Cleaning:
- Gentle Washing: Wash the flag using a mild detergent to help preserve its colours. Avoid bleach or harsh chemicals that may cause fading or damage.
- Machine Wash: If machine washing is necessary, use a gentle cycle with cold water. Place the flag in a mesh laundry bag to prevent snagging.
- Air Drying: Lay the flag flat or hang it to air dry. Avoid tumble drying, as high heat may shrink or weaken the fabric.
-
Storage:
- Proper Storage: Ensure the flag is completely dry before storing it to prevent mould or mildew. Keep it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and humidity.
-
Folding the ANZAC Flag:
- Lay the flag flat on a clean surface.
- Fold it lengthwise in half, ensuring the design remains visible.
- Fold it again lengthwise, aligning the edges neatly.
- Continue folding until it reaches a manageable size for storage or ceremonial presentation.
-
Handling:
- Avoid Sharp Objects: Keep the flag away from sharp objects or rough surfaces that could cause snags or tears.
- Secure Installation: When displaying, ensure the flag is firmly attached to prevent unnecessary strain on the fabric.
- Minimise Exposure: To extend its lifespan, bring the flag down during extreme weather or overnight when not in use.
-
Repairs:
- Minor Repairs: Small tears or fraying can be repaired by a professional seamstress to prolong the flag’s usability.
- Replacement: If the flag shows significant wear, consider replacing it to ensure a dignified display during important commemorations.
Flying the ANZAC Flag:
- Display the flag with the “Lest We Forget” text and imagery upright for proper orientation.
- Mount it securely to prevent damage from wind or movement.
- Display the flag at half-mast during commemorative events as a gesture of respect.
- Lower the flag at sunset unless illuminated appropriately.
By following these care instructions, your flag will remain a lasting tribute to remembrance and respect for years to come. Proper maintenance not only preserves the fabric but also upholds the dignity and significance of the flag.
