To ensure lasting quality and vibrant colours of your Iran flag, please adhere to the following care guidelines:

1. Cleaning:
   • Gentle Washing: Use a mild detergent to wash the flag and minimise fading. Avoid bleach or harsh chemicals that could harm the colours.
   • Machine Wash: If machine washing is necessary, select a gentle cycle with cold water. Place the flag in a mesh laundry bag to prevent snagging.
   • Air Drying: Lay the flag flat or hang it up to air dry. Do not tumble dry, as high temperatures can shrink or damage the fabric.
2. Storage:
   • Proper Storage: Ensure the flag is completely dry before storing it. Keep it in a cool, dry place to prevent moisture damage.
3. Folding the Iran Flag:
   • Lay the Flag Flat: Start by placing the flag on a clean, flat surface with the front side facing down. Ensure there are no wrinkles or creases.
   • Fold Lengthwise: Take the right side of the flag and fold it over to align with the left side, creating a long, narrow rectangle. Ensure the edges are straight and the colours are properly aligned.
   • Crease the Fold: Press down firmly along the crease to create a sharp fold, ensuring that it holds its shape.
   • Fold in Half Again: Take the newly formed rectangle and fold it in half lengthwise once more, bringing the top edge down to meet the bottom edge. This reduces the flag’s width while keeping the design intact.
   • Create Triangles: Starting from the open end of the folded flag, take the bottom corner and fold it diagonally towards the top edge to form a triangle. This will start the traditional folding method.
   • Continue Folding: Repeat the triangle folding process, working your way up the length of the flag until you reach the closed end. Each fold should create a triangular shape that overlaps the previous one.
   • Final Tuck: Once you reach the top, tuck the remaining fabric inside the last triangle to secure the folds and prevent them from unfolding.
   • Store Carefully: Place the folded flag in a protective storage bag or box to maintain its condition and avoid creasing.
4. Handling:
   • Avoid Sharp Objects: Keep the flag away from sharp items or rough surfaces that may snag or tear it.
   • Secure Installation: Make sure the flag is firmly attached when displayed to avoid unnecessary strain on the fabric.
   • Minimise Exposure: Take down the flag during severe weather or overnight to protect its condition.
5. Repairs:
   • Minor Repairs: For small tears or fraying, consider repairing the flag with the help of a professional seamstress.
   • Replacement: If the flag shows significant wear, think about purchasing a new one to maintain its appearance for important occasions.

Flying the Iran Flag:

• Raising the Flag:
  • Ensure that the flagpole is clean and free from obstructions.
  • Hold the flag by the header with loops or the vertical sleeve, ensuring it does not touch the ground.
  • Gradually raise the flag to the top of the pole while ensuring it is free of tangles.
  • Secure the flag with appropriate clips or fastenings to prevent it from being blown away by the wind.
• Displaying the Flag:
  • The flag should be displayed prominently, ensuring it is visible from a distance.
  • The flag should be hoisted with the green section at the top, followed by the white and then the red section at the bottom. The emblem in the centre must always face forward and be upright when displayed vertically or horizontally.
  • When flying the flag alongside others, the Iran flag should be positioned to the left of the viewer or at the centre of a group of flags.
  • Ensure the flag is hung in a manner that allows it to be fully visible and not obscured by other objects or structures.
• Flying the Flag Half-Mast:
  • To fly the flag at half-mast, first raise it to the top of the pole before lowering it to the halfway mark.
  • The flag should be flown half-mast to commemorate significant events, such as national mourning or memorials.
  • After the period of mourning, raise the flag back to the top before lowering it for the day.
• Flag Etiquette During Sunrise and Sunset:
  • The flag should be raised at sunrise and lowered at sunset.
  • When raising the flag in the morning, it should be done with care and respect, often accompanied by a salute or national anthem.
  • If the flag is illuminated at night, it may remain displayed, but if not, it should be lowered at dusk.
• Weather Conditions:
  • Avoid flying the flag during severe weather conditions, such as high winds, rainstorms, or snow, as these can damage the fabric.
  • If weather conditions deteriorate unexpectedly, lower the flag immediately to prevent it from becoming tattered or damaged.
  • In windy conditions, consider using flags specifically designed to withstand harsh weather, ensuring durability and longevity.
• Retirement of the Flag:
  • When the flag becomes tattered, worn, or no longer represents the country with dignity, it should be retired respectfully.
  • The retirement process typically involves burning the flag in a dignified manner, ensuring that it is done privately and respectfully.
  • Alternatively, consult local authorities or veteran organisations for guidance on proper flag disposal methods that honour the flag’s significance.
