Ballarat has come alive with colour thanks to Sunnyside Art’s latest large-scale textile installation — Karndorr (Tracks) and Pilk Purriyin (Sunrise) — a vibrant celebration of culture, creativity, and connection to Wadawurrung Country.
Led by Sunnyside Art in collaboration with Social Crew, Wadawurrung Traditional Owner and artist Jenna Oldaker (Murrup Art), and UK-based artist Morag Myerscough, the project transformed one of Ballarat’s most iconic laneways into a joyful, kaleidoscopic experience.
Produced on premium 135gsm Trilobal fabric by the Evan Evans team in Melbourne, the installation features dozens of custom-printed banners that sway and shimmer in the breeze — representing pathways, stories, and the vibrant heartbeat of community life.
The project was managed by Dan Butler from Evan Evans, who oversaw the production and delivery of the fabric signage in collaboration with Social Crew. Each flag captures a moment of connection — between artists, Country, and the people walking beneath them.
