To ensure the longevity and vibrant appearance of the Canada flag, please follow these care instructions:

1. Cleaning:
   • Wash Gently: Use a mild detergent to clean the flag, preserving its colours and fabric. Avoid bleach and strong chemicals.
   • Machine Wash: If machine washing is necessary, place the flag in a mesh laundry bag and select a gentle cycle with cold water to avoid damage.
   • Drying: Air dry the flag by laying it flat or hanging it up. Refrain from using a tumble dryer, as high heat can cause shrinkage or harm the material.
2. Storage:
   • Proper Storage: Ensure the flag is fully dry before storing to prevent mould and mildew. Store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
3. Folding the Canada Flag:
   • Lay Flat: Begin by spreading the flag on a clean, flat surface, smoothing out any creases or wrinkles.
   • First Fold: Fold the flag lengthwise, aligning the edges and ensuring the red stripes are even, with the maple leaf facing up.
   • Second Fold: Fold the flag in half lengthwise again, creating a narrow strip while keeping the maple leaf visible and properly aligned.
   • Form a Triangle: Starting from the end with the header, fold the strip into a triangular shape by bringing the bottom edge up to meet the top edge, forming a right-angle triangle.
   • Continue Triangular Folds: Keep folding the flag into triangles along the length of the strip, each fold overlapping the previous one. Ensure the final triangle prominently displays the maple leaf.
   • Secure the End: Tuck the remaining flap of fabric into the folds at the end to keep the flag neatly compact and secure.
4. Handling:
   • Avoid Sharp Objects: Keep the flag away from sharp items or rough surfaces to prevent snags or tears.
   • Secure Installation: Ensure the flag is securely fastened and has the freedom to move while displayed.
   • Flag Exposure: To extend the life of the flag, remove it during severe weather or in the evening to reduce exposure to harsh elements.
5. Repairs:

Flying the Canada Flag:

• Raising the Flag:
  • Prepare the Flag: Ensure the flag is clean and undamaged before raising it. Check that the flagpole and its hardware are in good working order.
  • Secure Attachment: Attach the flag securely to the halyard (the rope or cord used for hoisting). Ensure it is firmly fastened to prevent tangling or slipping.
  • Hoist Carefully: Raise the flag smoothly up the flagpole, ensuring it unfurls completely and hangs freely without touching the ground.
• Displaying the Flag:
  • Correct Positioning: Display the flag with the maple leaf facing forward and the flagpole positioned to the viewer’s left. The flag should be visible from all angles and fly high.
  • Ensure Full Extension: Make sure the flag is fully extended and not gathered up. It should be allowed to fly freely without obstruction.
• Flying the Flag at Half-Mast:
  • Initial Raising: Raise the flag to the top of the pole briefly before lowering it to half-mast to show respect and solemnity.
  • Proper Position: Lower the flag to approximately halfway down the pole. The exact placement may vary depending on the flagpole height but should generally be at the midpoint.
  • Return to Full Mast: Once the period of mourning or commemoration ends, raise the flag back to full mast before lowering it completely.
• Flag Etiquette for Sunrise and Sunset:
  • At Sunrise: Raise the flag promptly at sunrise to mark the start of the day and honour the national spirit.
  • At Sunset: Lower the flag at sunset unless it is illuminated by artificial light. The flag should not be left flying in darkness without proper lighting.
• Weather Conditions:
  • Avoid Extreme Weather: Refrain from flying the flag during severe weather conditions such as strong winds, heavy rain, or snow to avoid damage.
  • Regular Inspection: Regularly check the flag for signs of wear and take it down during adverse weather to preserve its condition.
• Retirement of the Flag:
