Care Instructions for Your Fully Sewn Canada Flag

1. Cleaning

   • Drying: Air dry flat or hang to dry. Avoid tumble dryers or high heat, which may damage the material.
2. Storage
   • Store Dry: Ensure the flag is fully dry before storing to help prevent mould or mildew.
   • Cool & Dry Location: Store away from direct sunlight and moisture when not in use.
3. Folding the Canada Flag
   • Lay Flat: Place the flag on a clean, flat surface and smooth out creases.
   • Fold Lengthwise: Fold the flag lengthwise with the maple leaf facing upward and edges aligned.
   • Create a Narrow Fold: Fold lengthwise again into a narrower strip.
   • Triangle Folding: Starting from the header end, fold the flag into triangular sections along the length of the strip.
   • Secure the Fold: Tuck the remaining fabric neatly into the folds to keep the flag compact.
4. Handling & Display

Flying the Canada Flag

• Raising the Flag
  • Ensure the flag and flagpole hardware are clean and in good condition before use.
  • Attach the flag securely to the halyard or pole fittings.
  • Raise the flag smoothly and allow it to fly freely without touching the ground.
• Displaying the Flag
  • Display the maple leaf correctly and ensure the flag is fully extended and visible.
  • Allow adequate space for the flag to move naturally when flying.
• Flying at Half-Mast
  • Raise the flag fully before lowering it to half-mast.
  • Position the flag approximately midway down the pole during periods of mourning or commemoration.
  • Return the flag to full mast before lowering completely.
• Sunrise & Sunset Etiquette
  • Raise the flag at sunrise where practical.
