1. Cleaning:
   • Gentle Wash: Use a mild detergent to clean the flag, helping to maintain its colour and fabric integrity. Steer clear of bleach and harsh chemicals.
   • Machine Wash: If you need to machine wash, place the flag in a mesh laundry bag and select a gentle cycle with cold water to avoid any damage.
   • Drying: Air dry the flag by laying it flat or hanging it up. Avoid tumble drying, as high heat can shrink or harm the material.
2. Storage:
   • Proper Storage: Make sure the flag is completely dry before storing it to prevent mould or mildew. Store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
3. Folding the Laos Flag:
   • Prepare the Flag: Start by laying the flag on a clean, flat surface, ensuring there’s ample space to fold it carefully without causing any creases or damage to the fabric.
   • First Lengthwise Fold: Fold the flag in half lengthwise, aligning the top edge with the bottom edge. Ensure the fold is smooth and the edges are perfectly aligned.
   • Second Lengthwise Fold: Fold the flag in half lengthwise once more, bringing the bottom edge up to meet the top. This will create a long, narrow strip with all edges neatly aligned.
   • Initiate Horizontal Folding: Take one end of the flag and fold it towards the centre, forming a compact square or rectangular shape.
   • Finish the Folding Process: Continue folding the flag in the same manner until it is neatly compacted. Make sure all edges remain even for a tidy appearance.
   • Store Carefully: Once folded, place the flag in a protective cover or bag to shield it from dust and moisture, ensuring its long-term preservation.
4. Handling:
   • Avoid Sharp Objects: Keep the flag away from sharp items or rough surfaces to prevent snags and tears.

• Raising the Flag
  • For flags featuring a Header with Loops, securely connect the loops to the halyard clips, making sure both the top and bottom clips are fastened before raising the flag steadily to avoid any twisting or tangling.
  • For flags equipped with a Vertical Sleeve, carefully slide the sleeve onto the pole, ensuring the flag fits snugly and is positioned at the desired height. Gently pull the flag upwards to prevent creasing and make adjustments as needed for a smooth and even display.
  • Always hoist the Laos flag with care and respect, using smooth and deliberate movements. Raise it swiftly to the top of the pole to express pride and honour.
• Displaying the Flag
  • The Laos flag should be placed in a position of prominence, ideally at the highest point or centrally located among other flags.
  • Ensure that the flag is securely fastened and free from any obstructions. It should fly or hang fully unfurled, with no part touching the ground or surrounding objects.
• Flying the Flag at Half-Mast
  • When flown at half-mast to signify mourning, first raise the flag to the peak momentarily before lowering it to half-mast.
  • Position the flag so that it sits at a height equal to one flag width below the top of the pole. At the end of the day or when the mourning period concludes, return it to the peak before lowering it completely.
• Flag Etiquette During Sunrise and Sunset
  • The Laos flag should be raised in the morning after sunrise and lowered before sunset unless it is illuminated for night-time display.
  • For displays at night, ensure the flag is adequately lit with a spotlight or similar light source to honour its significance after dark.
• Weather Conditions
  • Remove the flag during severe weather conditions, such as heavy rain, strong winds, or storms, to protect the fabric and maintain its quality.
  • In extreme sunlight, if the flag begins to show signs of wear or fading, consider taking it down temporarily to preserve its vibrant colours and integrity.
