Care Instructions for Your Fully Sewn Lesotho Flag

To help maintain the appearance and longevity of your Fully Sewn Lesotho Flag, follow these recommended care and handling guidelines.

1. Cleaning
   • Gentle Washing: Use mild detergent and cold water to help preserve the fabric and colours. Avoid bleach or harsh cleaning products.
   • Machine Washing: If required, place the flag inside a mesh laundry bag and use a gentle cold-water cycle.
   • Drying: Air dry only by hanging or laying flat. Avoid tumble drying or exposing the flag to high heat.
2. Storage
   • Store Carefully: Ensure the flag is completely dry before storage to help prevent mould or fabric damage.
   • Keep Protected: Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture.
3. Folding the Flag
   • Lay the flag flat on a clean surface with the emblem facing downward.
   • Fold lengthwise into a long rectangle, aligning the edges evenly.
   • Fold lengthwise once more to create a narrower shape.
   • Starting from the hoist side, create neat triangular folds along the length of the flag.
   • Tuck any loose fabric securely into the final fold.
   • Store the folded flag in a protective bag or storage box when not in use.
4. Handling & Display
   • Avoid contact with sharp objects or rough surfaces that may damage the fabric.
   • Ensure the flag is securely attached and able to move freely when displayed.
   • For longer lifespan, remove the flag during severe weather conditions or extended overnight exposure.
5. Repairs & Replacement
   • Minor fraying or stitching damage should be professionally repaired where possible.
   • For heavily worn or faded flags, replacement is recommended to maintain a professional display appearance.

Flying the Lesotho Flag

• Raising the Flag
  • Ensure the flagpole is clean and secure before installation.
  • Header with Loops: Attach the loops securely using halyard clips or sister clips.
  • Vertical Sleeve: Slide the sleeve neatly onto the pole and position securely.
  • Raise the flag smoothly to the top of the pole for proper presentation.
• Displaying the Flag
  • Ensure the flag is fully extended and clearly visible when displayed.
  • When displayed alongside other flags, position appropriately according to local flag etiquette requirements.
  • Vertical sleeve installations should face outward for correct presentation.
• Half-Mast Display
  • Raise the flag fully before lowering it to the half-mast position.
  • Return the flag to the top of the pole before lowering completely.
• Sunrise & Sunset Etiquette
  • Traditionally, flags are raised at sunrise and lowered at sunset.
  • If displayed overnight, suitable illumination is recommended.
• Weather Conditions
  • Avoid displaying the flag during storms, extreme wind, or severe weather conditions.
  • During light weather exposure, ensure all fittings remain secure to reduce strain on the fabric.
• Flag Retirement
  • When the flag becomes excessively worn or damaged, retire it respectfully and replace it with a new display flag.

With proper care and handling, your Fully Sewn Lesotho Flag will remain a durable and professional display piece for years to come.
