To ensure the longevity and vibrant appearance of your Panama flag, follow these care instructions:

1. Cleaning:
   • Wash Gently: Use a mild detergent to maintain the colours and integrity of the fabric. Avoid bleach or harsh chemicals.
   • Machine Wash: For machine washing, place the flag in a mesh laundry bag and use a delicate cycle with cold water.
   • Drying: Lay the flag flat or hang it to air dry. Do not tumble dry to prevent potential shrinkage or fabric damage.
2. Storage:
   • Proper Storage: Always ensure the flag is completely dry before storing to prevent mould or mildew. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
3. Folding the Panama Flag:
   • Place the flag on a clean, flat surface with the front side facing up.
   • Fold it in half lengthwise, bringing the bottom edge to meet the top edge, ensuring the colours align correctly.
   • Fold it in half again lengthwise, creating a long, narrow strip while smoothing out any wrinkles.
   • Starting from one end, fold the flag into equal sections, ensuring each fold is even and tidy.
   • Secure the final fold neatly, keeping all edges aligned for a compact and organised appearance.
   • Store the folded flag in a breathable protective cover or container to shield it from dust and moisture.
4. Handling:
   • Avoid Sharp Objects: Keep the flag away from sharp edges or abrasive surfaces to prevent snags and tears.

Flying the Panama Flag:

• Raising the Flag:
  • Ensure the flagpole is clean and in good working condition before attaching the flag.

  • When viewed from the front, the flag should be displayed with the blue star positioned in the top left corner and the red star in the bottom right corner.
  • When displaying more than one flag, the Panama flag should be flown at the same height and level as the others, taking a place of honour without being overshadowed by other flags.
• Flying the Flag at Half-Mast:
  • To lower the flag to half-mast, first raise it to the top of the flagpole before bringing it down to the halfway point. This position should be approximately midway down the pole.
  • This gesture is typically observed for mourning or paying respects during periods of national significance. Follow official guidance for specific ceremonies and occasions.
• Flag Etiquette During Sunrise and Sunset:
  • The flag should be raised at sunrise and taken down at sunset, ensuring it is flown only during daylight. If flown at night, it must be illuminated to remain visible.
  • Always lower the flag with care, folding it neatly and storing it properly after use.
• Weather Conditions:
  • Avoid displaying the flag during severe weather, such as strong winds, heavy rain, or storms, as these can damage the material. Store the flag in a secure, dry place when extreme weather is forecasted.
  • While weather-resistant fabrics like knitted polyester are designed for outdoor use, they should still be taken down in harsh conditions to prolong their lifespan.
• Retirement of the Flag:
  • When a flag becomes worn, torn, or faded beyond repair, retire it respectfully. Fold the flag properly and dispose of it by burning in a dignified manner, or take it to a facility that handles flag disposal.
