1. Cleaning:

   • Gentle Wash: Use a mild detergent to clean your flag, keeping its colours bright and fabric intact. Avoid bleach or harsh chemicals that could damage the material.
   • Machine Wash: If using a washing machine, place your flag inside a mesh laundry bag and select a gentle cycle with cold water to protect its integrity.
   • Drying: Air dry your flag by laying it flat or hanging it. Avoid using a tumble dryer, as heat can cause the fabric to shrink or weaken.

2. Storage:

   • Proper Storage: Ensure the flag is fully dry before storing to avoid mould or mildew. Store it in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight to preserve its colours.
3. Folding the Switzerland Flag:

   • Lay the Flag Flat: Place the flag on a clean, dry surface with the white cross facing upwards. Smooth out any wrinkles to ensure a tidy presentation before folding.

   • Fold Horizontally in Half: Bring the bottom edge up to meet the top edge with the cross aligned and visible as you fold.

   • Fold Vertically in Half: Take the right edge and fold it over to meet the left edge, keeping the cross centred and visible at all times.

   • Continue Folding to a Compact Size: Depending on your storage preferences, fold the flag into a manageable size while preserving the integrity of the cross. For ceremonial storage, keep the white cross as visible as possible.

   • Proper Storage: Once folded, store the flag in a protective case or place it in a dry, well-ventilated space. Avoid placing heavy objects on the flag so the folds stay crisp and undamaged.

• Raising the Flag

  • Header with Loops: Secure the reinforced loops to the flagpole rope with the provided sister clips.

  • Vertical Sleeve: Insert the flagpole through the sleeve, fitting it securely, and fastening it tightly before elevating the pole to its full height.

  • Hoist the flag with purpose and respect, raising it briskly to signify honour.
  • If flying multiple flags, the Switzerland flag should always be raised first and never flown below any other national flag.
• Displaying the Flag
  • The Switzerland flag, should always be hung flat, free of wrinkles, whether displayed vertically or horizontally.
  • When mounted on a flagpole, make sure the flag flies without any obstruction or hindrance.
  • Indoors, hang the flag with the white cross positioned upright in the centre, aligning it properly.
• Flying the Flag at Half-Mast
  • To honour a period of mourning or remembrance, lower the flag to half-mast.
  • First raise the flag fully to the top of the pole, then lower it to the midpoint to signal half-mast.
  • At the end of the day, raise the flag fully before lowering it completely.
