For lasting quality and vibrant colours, please follow these care guidelines:
Cleaning:
Gentle Washing: Use a mild detergent to clean your flag and preserve its bright colours. Avoid harsh chemicals or bleach that may damage the fabric.
Machine Wash: For machine washing, select a cold, gentle cycle. Place the flag inside a mesh laundry bag to prevent any damage.
Air Drying: Allow the flag to air dry by laying it flat or hanging it. Refrain from using a tumble dryer as the heat can shrink or damage the fabric.
Storage:
Proper Storage: Thoroughly dry the flag before storing it. Keep it in a cool, dry place to prevent any moisture-related damage.
Folding the Uzbekistan Flag:
Clean, flat surface: Start by making sure the flag is completely dry and wrinkle-free.
Face Up Position: Lay the flag with the crescent and stars in the upper left corner (with the blue stripe on top).
First Fold: Fold the flag vertically in half, bringing the green stripe over the blue, aligning the edges carefully.
Second Vertical Fold: Bring the white stripe over the green, aligning the edges straight.
Horizontal Fold: Fold the flag horizontally, bringing the fly end towards the hoist side.
Repeat the Horizontal Fold: Continue folding until the flag is in a compact, rectangular shape, suitable for storage or display.
Visible Symbols: Make sure the crescent and stars are visible on the top layer when folding for display or ceremonial use.
Handling:
Avoid Sharp Objects: Prevent the flag from coming into contact with sharp or rough surfaces that may cause tears or fraying.
Secure Installation: Securely attach the flag to prevent stress or movement that could damage it.
Minimise Exposure: Take the flag down during heavy rain, high winds, or overnight to prolong its life.
Repairs:
Minor Repairs: For minor damages, temporarily retire the flag and have it mended by a professional seamstress.
Replacement: If the flag is significantly worn or faded, consider replacing it to maintain its proper appearance.
Flying the Uzbekistan Flag:
Raising the Flag:
Using Header with Loops: Attach the reinforced loops to the sister clips provided, and securely fasten the clips to your halyard or rope before raising the flag.
Using Vertical Sleeve: Slide the flagpole through the sleeve, properly hanging the flag. Once in place, raise the flag with care.
Always raise the flag briskly, making sure it does not touch the ground or other objects.
The flag should be firmly attached to prevent slippage or tangling.
For formal events, raise the flag with a respectful pause or play the national anthem, where appropriate.
Displaying the Flag:
The Uzbekistan flag should be flown with the blue stripe at the top, and the crescent and stars positioned in the upper-left corner (hoist side).
When hung vertically, ensure the blue stripe is on the right side, with the crescent facing downwards.
Display the flag prominently, either at the centre or to the left of other flags, depending on the arrangement.
Flying the Flag Half-Mast:
To fly the flag at half-mast, raise it briefly to the top of the pole, then lower it to the halfway point.
Half-mast is typically used during periods of national mourning or to honour significant events.
Raise the flag back to the top before lowering it completely.
Flag Etiquette During Sunrise and Sunset:
Ideally, raise the flag at sunrise and lower it at sunset, unless illuminated for night display.
The flag should not be flown in total darkness unless a spotlight or floodlight keeps it visible.
Lower the flag slowly and with dignity, considering any ceremonial observance.
Weather Conditions:
Avoid flying the flag in extreme weather, such as heavy rain, storms, or high winds, to prevent damage.
If left flying in severe conditions, inspect the flag regularly for wear and tear.
A damaged or waterlogged flag should be taken down immediately.
Retirement of the Flag:
When the flag is no longer in good condition, it should be retired respectfully.
Avoid discarding the flag in general waste; consider ceremonial burning or contact an organisation for proper disposal.
Storing the flag with respect until it can be retired appropriately reflects the national pride it represents.
By following these care guidelines, your flag will maintain its vibrant colours and stand the test of time, representing your pride with dignity.
