xTo maintain the lasting quality and vibrant colours of the Bahamas flag, please follow these care guidelines:
- Cleaning:
- Wash Gently: Use a mild detergent when washing the flag to minimise fading. Avoid using bleach or harsh chemicals.
- Machine Wash: If machine washing is necessary, select a gentle cycle with cold water. Place the flag in a mesh laundry bag to protect it from snagging.
- Drying: Air dry the flag by laying it flat or hanging it. Refrain from using a tumble dryer, as high heat can cause shrinkage and damage the fabric.
- Storage:
- Proper Storage: Ensure the flag is completely dry before storing. Keep it in a cool, dry, and safe place.
- Folding the Bahamas Flag:
- Begin by laying the flag out flat on a clean, dry surface with the black triangle at the left corner.
- Fold the flag in half lengthwise, aligning the top and bottom edges so that the black triangle remains on the left side.
- Fold the flag in half lengthwise again, making sure the edges align neatly and the black triangle is still on the left.
- Starting from the end opposite the black triangle, make a series of diagonal folds, creating triangular sections. Each fold should be approximately the same width.
- Continue folding in this manner until you reach the end of the flag. Ensure that the black triangle remains visible at the top of the folded flag.
- Tuck any excess fabric into the folds to create a neat and compact triangular shape, with the black triangle prominently displayed.
- Handling:
- Protect from Sharp Objects: Ensure the flag is kept away from sharp edges or surfaces that could potentially cause snags, tears, or abrasions.
- Secure Installation: Ensure the flag is securely hoisted and freely flying.
- Flag Exposure: Reduce exposure to harsh weather by taking down the flag in the evening or during extreme weather conditions.
- Repairs:
- Minor Repairs: If you notice any wear or fraying, replace the flag with a spare and take the damaged one to a seamstress for professional repairs.
