1. Cleaning:
   • Wash Gently: Use a mild detergent to clean the flag, avoiding bleach or similar harsh chemicals.
   • Machine Wash: If machine washing is necessary, opt for a gentle cycle with cold water. Place the flag in a mesh laundry bag to prevent snagging.
   • Drying: Air dry the flag by laying it flat or hanging it up. Avoid tumble drying, as high heat can cause shrinkage and damage the fabric.
2. Storage:
   • Proper Storage: Ensure the flag is completely dry before storing. Keep it in a cool, dry, and safe place.
3. Folding the Belize Flag:
   • Start with a Clean Surface: Lay the flag flat on a clean, level surface with the front side facing down.
   • Fold Lengthwise: Fold the flag in half lengthwise, aligning the edges neatly. Ensure the colours and the coat of arms are visible on the folded side.
   • Fold Again Lengthwise: Fold the flag in half once more lengthwise to create a narrower strip. Make sure the folds are even and smooth.
   • Create Triangular Folds: Starting from the hoist side (the side with the attachment), make a series of triangular folds. Begin by folding the corner at a 45-degree angle towards the opposite edge to form a triangle.
   • Continue Triangular Folds: Keep folding the flag in triangles along the length of the strip, ensuring each fold is uniform and neatly aligned.
   • Tuck in the End: Once you reach the end of the strip, tuck the remaining fabric into the folds to secure them and create a compact, neat shape.
4. Handling:
   • Avoid Sharp Objects: Keep the flag away from sharp items and surfaces that could cause snags, tears, or abrasions.
   • Secure Installation: Ensure the flag is properly hoisted and remains clear of obstacles.

  • Gently raise the flag to the top of the pole, ensuring it is evenly unfurled and free of creases or tangles.
  • Make sure the flag flies freely without touching the ground or obstructing any other flags
• Displaying the Flag:
  • Position the flag so that the coat of arms is upright and clearly visible.
  • When displayed with other flags, the Belize flag should be flown at the same height or higher than others, positioned in the place of honour.
• Flying the Flag Half-Mast:
  • To fly the flag at half-mast, lower it to a position halfway down the flagpole.
  • Ensure the flag remains at this height until the end of the day or the designated period of mourning.
  • When raising the flag back to full mast, ensure it is done briskly and smoothly.
• Flag Etiquette During Sunrise and Sunset:
  • Raise the flag at sunrise and lower it at sunset, following the natural light conditions.
  • If the flag is illuminated by a light source at night, it may remain hoisted, but it should be properly lit to ensure visibility.
  • If flying the flag overnight is necessary, ensure it is well-maintained and free of any damage
• Weather Conditions:
  • Avoid flying the flag during extreme weather conditions such as heavy rain, strong winds, or storms to prevent damage.
  • In adverse weather, take the flag down and store it properly to preserve its condition.
