Care Instructions for Your Chad Flag

1. Cleaning
   • Gentle Washing: Wash using a mild detergent to help preserve the flag's colours. Avoid bleach and harsh chemicals.
   • Machine Wash: If machine washing is required, use a gentle cycle with cold water and place the flag in a mesh laundry bag.
   • Air Dry: Lay flat or hang to dry naturally. Avoid tumble drying, as excessive heat may damage the fabric.
2. Storage
   • Store Dry: Ensure the flag is completely dry before storage. Keep it in a cool, dry location away from moisture.
3. Folding the Flag
   • Lay the flag flat and smooth out any creases.
   • Fold lengthwise, aligning the edges evenly.
   • Fold again lengthwise to create a narrow strip.
   • Starting from one end, fold into neat triangular sections.
   • Continue until the entire flag is folded compactly.
   • Tuck any remaining fabric neatly into the final fold.
4. Handling
   • Avoid Sharp Objects: Keep away from rough surfaces and sharp edges that may cause snags or tears.
   • Secure Installation: Ensure the flag is properly attached when displayed.
   • Minimise Exposure: Remove the flag during extreme weather conditions or overnight where practical.
5. Repairs
   • Minor Repairs: Small tears or loose stitching should be repaired promptly.
   • Replacement: Consider replacing the flag when significant wear affects its appearance or performance.

Flying the Chad Flag

• Raising the Flag
  • Inspect the flag before use and ensure it is clean and free from damage.
  • Attach the flag securely to the pole or halyard.
  • Raise the flag smoothly and evenly to the top of the pole.
• Displaying the Flag
  • Display the flag with the blue stripe on the hoist side.
  • Ensure the flag remains clear of the ground and surrounding objects.
  • Allow the flag to fly freely for maximum visibility.
• Flying at Half-Mast
  • Raise the flag to the top of the pole before lowering it to half-mast.
  • Position it midway on the pole.
  • Return it to the top before lowering completely.
• Sunrise and Sunset Etiquette
  • Raise the flag at or just before sunrise.
  • Lower the flag at sunset unless it is properly illuminated.
• Weather Conditions
  • Avoid flying the flag during severe weather or strong winds.
  • Remove the flag during heavy rain or other extreme conditions where possible.
• Flag Retirement
  • Inspect the flag regularly for signs of wear.
  • Retire and replace the flag when it becomes heavily damaged or faded.
