Chile Flag Care Instructions

To help maintain the appearance and lifespan of your Chile Flag, follow these simple care recommendations.

1. Cleaning
   • Gentle Washing: Use a mild detergent to help preserve colour and fabric quality. Avoid bleach and harsh cleaning products.
   • Machine Washing: If machine washing is required, use a gentle cycle with cold water and place the flag inside a mesh laundry bag.
   • Air Drying: Hang or lay the flag flat to air dry. Avoid tumble drying or excessive heat.
2. Storage
   • Store Dry: Ensure the flag is completely dry before folding and storing.
   • Cool, Dry Location: Store away from moisture, direct sunlight, and damp environments to help prevent mould or mildew.
3. Folding the Chile Flag
   • Prepare the Flag: Lay the flag flat on a clean surface with the blue canton and white star facing upward.
   • Fold Lengthwise: Fold the flag in half lengthwise, aligning the edges carefully.
   • Fold Again: Fold lengthwise a second time to create a neat, compact shape.
   • Create Triangular Folds: Starting from the open end, fold the flag into a series of neat triangles.
   • Secure the Fold: Tuck the final point underneath the folded layers to keep the flag secure.
   • Final Check: Ensure the folded flag is neat and compact for storage.
4. Handling
   • Avoid Damage: Keep the flag away from sharp edges and rough surfaces.
   • Secure Installation: Ensure the flag is properly attached when displayed.
   • Protect During Severe Weather: Consider lowering the flag during extreme weather conditions to reduce unnecessary wear.
5. Repairs & Replacement

Flying the Chile Flag

• Raising the Flag
  • Ensure the flagpole and fittings are in good condition before use.
  • Attach the flag securely before raising it.
  • Raise the flag smoothly and prevent it from touching the ground.
  • Allow the flag to fly freely once positioned.
• Displaying the Flag
  • Display the flag with the blue canton and white star positioned in the upper left corner.
  • When displayed with other flags, follow local flag etiquette requirements.
  • Keep the flag free from twists or tangles while flying.
• Half-Mast Display
  • Raise the flag fully before lowering it to the half-mast position.
  • Return the flag to the top of the pole before lowering it at the end of the display period.
• Day and Night Display
  • Traditionally, flags are raised at sunrise and lowered at sunset.
  • If displayed overnight, suitable illumination is recommended.
• Weather Conditions
  • Avoid flying the flag in severe weather conditions where possible.
  • Inspect attachments regularly during windy conditions.
• Flag Retirement
