1. Cleaning:
   • Gentle Washing: Use a mild detergent when washing the flag to preserve its colours. Avoid harsh chemicals like bleach that may damage the fabric.
   • Machine Wash: If machine washing is necessary, select a gentle cycle with cold water. Place the flag in a mesh laundry bag to prevent it from snagging on other items.
   • Air Drying: Lay the flag flat or hang it to air dry naturally. Do not tumble dry, as high heat can shrink or damage the material.
2. Storage:
   • Proper Storage: Ensure the flag is completely dry before storing it in a cool, dry place to prevent moisture-related damage.
3. Folding the Croatia Flag:
   • Prepare the flag: Lay the Croatia flag on a flat surface, ensuring it is clean and dry. The flag should be face-up, with the coat of arms positioned clearly in the centre.
   • Fold in half lengthwise: Fold the flag lengthwise, bringing the top edge down to meet the bottom edge. Make sure the red, white, and blue stripes are aligned, and the coat of arms remains visible in the centre.
   • Fold lengthwise again: Fold the flag in half lengthwise once more. Ensure that the stripes remain straight, and the coat of arms is now on one side, prominently displayed.
   • Begin folding into thirds: Starting from the fly end (the side opposite the pole), fold the flag in thirds towards the hoist. This will create a compact and neat rectangle, with the coat of arms still visible on the outside.
   • Secure the folds: Tuck the final edge of the flag securely into the folds to prevent it from unraveling. The result should be a neatly folded rectangle with the Croatian coat of arms on top, ready for respectful storage or display.
4. Handling:
   • Avoid Sharp Objects: Keep the flag away from sharp or abrasive surfaces that could cause snags, tears, or fraying.
   • Secure Installation: Ensure the flag is properly attached when displayed to prevent unnecessary strain on the fabric.

• Raising the Flag

• Displaying the Flag

When taking the flag down, raise it fully to the top again before lowering it completely. Flying the flag at half-mast is generally reserved for national days of mourning or in response to official government orders.
• Flag Etiquette During Sunrise and Sunset
  The Croatia flag should be raised at sunrise and lowered at sunset if flown outdoors. If you choose to fly it 24 hours a day, proper illumination must be provided at night so that the flag is always visible. The flag should never be flown in darkness without adequate lighting.
• Weather Conditions
  Avoid flying the Croatia flag in severe weather conditions such as storms or high winds. These can cause unnecessary wear and tear on the fabric, reducing the lifespan of the flag. Bringing the flag down during bad weather helps maintain its condition and honours the respect it deserves.
