1. Cleaning:
   • Gentle Washing: Use a mild detergent when washing the flag to prevent fading. Avoid bleach and harsh chemicals, which may harm the fabric's colour.
   • Machine Wash: If machine washing is necessary, select a gentle cycle with cold water. Place the flag in a mesh laundry bag to protect it from snagging.
   • Air Drying: Lay the flag flat or hang it to air dry. Avoid tumble drying, as high heat can damage or shrink the fabric.
2. Storage:
   • Proper Storage: Ensure the flag is completely dry before storing. Keep it in a cool, dry place to protect it from moisture and mildew.
3. Folding the Cyprus Flag:
   • Align the Flag
     Begin by holding the flag horizontally with two people, each gripping opposite corners. Ensure the flag is fully extended, with the map of Cyprus facing upwards.
   • Fold in Half Lengthwise
     Bring the bottom edge of the flag up to meet the top edge, ensuring that the map of Cyprus remains visible and doesn’t get folded over. Smooth out any wrinkles to keep the fold neat.
   • Fold in Half Lengthwise Again
     Fold the flag in half once more, this time bringing the new bottom edge up to meet the top edge. The flag should now be a long, narrow strip with the map still showing clearly.
   • Start Folding into Triangles
     Begin at the hoist (the side with the flagpole attachments), folding the flag into a small triangle. Fold the bottom corner up to form a triangle, then continue folding it over itself in triangular sections.
   • Continue Triangular Folds
     Keep folding the flag in tight, even triangles until you reach the end. Ensure each fold is crisp and uniform, maintaining the flag's shape and appearance.
   • Tuck in the Final Edge
     Once you reach the end of the flag, tuck the remaining fabric neatly into the folds to secure it. The final result should be a compact triangle, with no loose edges visible.
4. Handling:
   • Avoid Sharp Objects: Keep the flag away from sharp items and rough surfaces that may cause tears or snags.
   • Secure Installation: When displaying, make sure the flag is securely attached to prevent strain on the material.
   • Minimise Exposure: To prolong the flag’s life, take it down during severe weather or overnight when it’s not in use.
5. Repairs:

• • Minor Repairs: If small tears or fraying occur, replace the flag and consult a professional seamstress for repairs.

  The flag should be raised at sunrise and lowered at sunset, ensuring it is not left flying in the dark unless it is properly illuminated. If flown at night, proper lighting must be provided. The flag should be lowered slowly and respectfully, never allowed to touch the ground during this process.
• Weather Conditions
  Take care to lower the Cyprus flag during severe weather conditions, such as heavy rain, strong winds, or storms, as these could damage the fabric or fade the colours. Bringing the flag down during bad weather helps preserve its condition and ensures its longevity.
• Retirement of the Flag
