Product Care

To help maintain the appearance and lifespan of your Dominica Flag, follow these care recommendations.

1. Cleaning
   • Gentle Washing: Use a mild detergent to help preserve colour and fabric quality. Avoid bleach and harsh chemicals.
   • Machine Washing: If required, wash on a gentle cycle using cold water. Placing the flag in a mesh laundry bag can help prevent snagging.
   • Air Drying: Hang or lay the flag flat to dry naturally. Avoid tumble drying, as excessive heat may damage the fabric.
2. Storage
   • Store Dry: Ensure the flag is completely dry before storing in a cool, dry location.
3. Folding the Flag
   • Lay the flag flat on a clean surface and smooth out any wrinkles.
   • Fold lengthwise, aligning the edges carefully.
   • Fold lengthwise again to create a narrower strip.
   • Create neat triangular folds from one end to the other.
   • Tuck any remaining fabric into the final fold to secure it.
4. Handling
   • Avoid contact with sharp objects or rough surfaces.
   • Ensure the flag is securely installed when displayed.
   • Remove the flag during severe weather conditions where possible.
5. Repairs & Replacement
   • Minor damage may be professionally repaired where practical.
   • If the flag becomes heavily worn or faded, replacement is recommended to maintain presentation quality.

Displaying the Dominica Flag

• Raising the Flag
  • Ensure the flagpole is clean and ready for use.
  • Attach header loops securely to the halyard, or slide the vertical sleeve onto the pole.
  • Raise the flag smoothly to avoid tangles or unnecessary strain on the fabric.
• Displaying the Flag
  • Display the flag in a prominent location where it can fly freely.
  • Ensure the design is correctly orientated when mounted.
• Half-Mast Display
  • Raise the flag to the top of the pole before lowering it to the half-mast position when required.
• Daily Flag Etiquette
  • Traditionally, flags are raised at sunrise and lowered at sunset.
  • If displayed overnight, appropriate illumination is recommended.
• Weather Conditions
  • Monitor weather conditions and remove the flag during extreme winds or storms where practical.
  • Avoid prolonged exposure to severe weather to maximise service life.
• Flag Retirement
  • When the flag is no longer suitable for display, retire it respectfully in accordance with local customs and practices.

With proper care and handling, your Dominica Flag can continue to look its best for years of display.
