1. Cleaning:
   • Gentle Washing: Use a mild detergent when washing the flag to help preserve its colours. Refrain from using bleach or harsh chemicals that may cause fading or damage.
   • Machine Wash: If machine washing is necessary, opt for a gentle cycle with cold water. Place the flag inside a mesh laundry bag to protect it from potential snagging.
   • Air Drying: Lay the flag flat or hang it up to air dry naturally. Avoid using a tumble dryer, as high heat can shrink or weaken the fabric.
2. Storage:
   • Proper Storage: Make sure the flag is completely dry before storing it in a cool, dry place to prevent any moisture damage or mildew.
3. Folding the England Flag:
   • Lay the Flag Flat: Begin by laying the England flag flat on a clean surface, ensuring the St George's Cross (the red cross on a white background) is facing upwards and fully visible.
   • Fold in Half Lengthwise: Carefully fold the flag lengthwise, bringing the top edge down to meet the bottom edge. Ensure the red cross remains aligned and centred on the white background as you fold.
   • Fold in Half Lengthwise Again: Fold the flag lengthwise a second time, again aligning the top edge with the bottom edge. This will create a long, narrow rectangle with the St George's Cross running along the centre.
   • Fold into Thirds: Starting at one end, fold the flag in thirds widthwise, tucking one end of the flag toward the centre, then folding the remaining third over it. Keep the folds even to maintain a neat, compact appearance.
   • Final Fold and Tuck: Complete the process by folding the flag into a small, tidy rectangle. Ensure that the final folded flag displays a clean section of the St George's Cross, symbolising its significance.
4. Handling:
   • Avoid Sharp Objects: Keep the flag away from sharp or rough surfaces that could cause snags or tears in the fabric.
   • Secure Installation: Ensure the flag is tightly fastened when displayed to avoid undue stress on the fabric during windy conditions.
