Care Instructions

To help maintain the appearance and lifespan of your Estonia Flag, follow these recommended care guidelines.

1. Cleaning
   • Gentle Washing: Use a mild detergent to help preserve the flag's colours. Avoid bleach or harsh chemicals.
   • Machine Washing: If machine washing is required, use a gentle cycle with cold water. A mesh laundry bag is recommended to minimise snagging.
   • Air Drying: Lay the flag flat or hang it to dry naturally. Avoid tumble drying, as excessive heat may damage the fabric.
2. Storage
   • Store Dry: Ensure the flag is completely dry before storing.
   • Cool, Dry Location: Store away from moisture and direct sunlight when not in use.
3. Folding the Flag
   • Lay the flag flat on a clean surface with the blue stripe facing upwards.
   • Fold the flag lengthwise, aligning the long edges.
   • Fold lengthwise again to create a narrower shape.
   • Starting from the hoist end, create triangular folds along the length of the flag.
   • Continue folding until the entire flag is neatly folded.
   • Tuck the final fold securely into place.
4. Handling
   • Avoid contact with sharp objects or rough surfaces.
   • Ensure the flag is securely installed to reduce unnecessary strain on the fabric.
   • Remove the flag during extreme weather conditions or overnight where practical.
5. Repairs & Replacement
   • Minor damage may be repaired by a qualified seamstress.
   • If the flag becomes heavily worn, faded, or damaged, replacement is recommended for the best presentation.

Flying the Estonia Flag

• Raising the Flag
  • Header with Loops: Attach the loops securely to the flagpole and connect the sister clips before raising.
  • Vertical Sleeve: Insert the pole fully through the sleeve and ensure the flag is displayed neatly before raising.
• Displaying the Flag
  • Ensure the flag is displayed cleanly and free from excessive wrinkles.
  • Position the blue stripe at the top when displayed horizontally.
• Flying at Half-Mast
  • Raise the flag to the top of the pole before lowering it to the half-mast position.
  • When returning to full display, raise the flag to the top before lowering it completely.
• Weather Conditions
  • Avoid flying the flag during severe weather conditions where possible.
  • Remove the flag during strong winds, storms, or prolonged heavy rain to reduce wear.
• Flag Retirement
  • Replace the flag when it becomes significantly faded, frayed, or damaged.
  • Dispose of retired flags respectfully in accordance with local customs or organisational guidelines.
