1. Cleaning:
   • Gentle Washing: Always wash the flag using a mild detergent to reduce fading. Avoid using bleach or harsh chemicals that could harm the colours.
   • Machine Wash: If machine washing is necessary, select a gentle cycle with cold water. Place the flag in a mesh laundry bag to prevent any snagging.
   • Air Drying: Lay the flag flat or hang it to dry naturally. Avoid tumble drying, as high heat can shrink or damage the fabric.
2. Storage:
   • Proper Storage: Ensure the flag is completely dry before storing. Keep it in a cool, dry place away from moisture to prevent damage.
3. Folding the Iceland Flag:
   • Begin by laying the flag flat on a clean, smooth surface with the side featuring the design facing downwards. This helps prevent any creasing on the visible side.
   • Fold the flag in half lengthwise, aligning the two shorter edges so that the flag is now half its original width. Ensure the edges are straight for a neat fold.
   • Fold it in half again lengthwise, bringing the top edge down to meet the bottom edge. This will create a narrower strip of the flag, ensuring that the design remains tucked inside.
   • Start from the hoist side (the side where the flag attaches to the pole) and make triangular folds, similar to folding a flag in a military style:
     • Take the bottom corner of the folded edge and bring it up to meet the opposite edge, forming a triangle.
     • Continue this process, alternating sides, folding each triangle back over the previous fold until you reach the end of the flag.
   • Secure the final fold by tucking it into the previous fold or using a small piece of tape if necessary to keep it compact.
4. Handling:
   • Avoid Sharp Objects: Keep the flag away from sharp items or rough surfaces that could lead to snags or tears.

  • When raising the flag in the morning, do so with a sense of respect and dignity, and allow it to be fully unfurled at the top before securing it.
  • At sunset, lower the flag slowly and respectfully, ensuring it does not touch the ground.
