Follow these simple care guidelines to help maintain the appearance and longevity of your knitted polyester Latvia flag.
- Cleaning
- Gentle Wash: Hand wash using a mild detergent. Avoid bleach and harsh chemicals that may damage the fabric or fade the colours.
- Machine Wash: If machine washing is required, use a gentle cold-water cycle and place the flag inside a mesh laundry bag.
- Air Dry: Lay the flag flat or hang it to air dry. Avoid tumble drying, as excessive heat may damage the material.
- Storage
- Ensure the flag is completely dry before storing.
- Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture.
- Folding the Flag
- Lay the flag flat on a clean surface with the front facing down.
- Fold it lengthwise, aligning the shorter edges.
- Fold it in half again to create a long rectangle.
- Starting from the open end, fold into neat triangles until the entire flag is folded.
- Tuck any loose fabric into the final fold and store it in a protective bag or case.
- Handling
- Avoid contact with sharp objects and abrasive surfaces.
- Ensure the flag is securely attached before display.
- Remove the flag during severe weather or overnight where practical to help extend its lifespan.
- Repairs & Replacement
- Small tears or loose stitching can often be professionally repaired.
- Replace the flag when it becomes heavily worn or faded to maintain a professional display.
Displaying Your Latvia Flag
- Before Raising: Check that the flagpole is clean and all fittings are secure.
- Header with Loops: Attach the reinforced loops using the supplied clips before raising the flag.
- Vertical Sleeve: Slide the sleeve over a compatible pole, ensuring the flag hangs evenly before raising.
- Display Position: Keep the flag fully extended and free from obstructions for the best presentation.
- Half-Mast Display: Raise the flag to the top of the pole before lowering it to the half-mast position. Return it to the top before lowering it completely.
- Daily Flying: Ideally raise the flag at sunrise and lower it at sunset. If displayed overnight, ensure it is appropriately illuminated.
- Weather Conditions: Although suitable for outdoor display, removing the flag during extreme weather can help maximise its service life.
- Flag Retirement: When the flag becomes worn beyond repair, retire and dispose of it respectfully in accordance with local customs or organisational guidelines.
