xProduct Care for Your Maldives Flag
To help maintain the quality and vibrancy of your Maldives flag, follow these simple care instructions.
- Cleaning
- Gentle Washing: Use mild detergent to help preserve the flag’s colours. Avoid bleach and harsh chemicals.
- Machine Wash: If machine washing is needed, use a gentle cold cycle and place the flag in a mesh laundry bag to help prevent snags.
- Air Drying: Lay flat or hang the flag to air dry. Avoid tumble drying, as heat may damage the fabric.
- Storage
- Ensure the flag is completely dry before storing it in a cool, dry location.
- Folding the Maldives Flag
- Lay the flag flat on a clean, dry surface and smooth out any creases.
- Fold the flag in half lengthwise, aligning the edges carefully.
- Fold it lengthwise once more to create a narrow strip.
- Fold the flag in small, even sections until fully folded.
- Avoid clips or fasteners that may damage the fabric.
- Handling
- Keep the flag away from sharp or rough surfaces that may cause tears.
- Ensure the flag is securely attached when displayed to avoid unnecessary strain.
- For best preservation, bring the flag indoors during extreme weather or overnight.
- Repairs
- For small tears or frays, remove the flag from display and arrange professional repair if needed.
- If the flag shows significant wear, consider replacing it for a fresh display.
Flying the Maldives Flag
- Raising the Flag
- Header with Loops: Attach the reinforced loops to the flagpole hooks or clips, making sure they are secured evenly.
- Vertical Sleeve: Slide the flagpole through the sleeve pocket until the flag is positioned correctly.
- Raise the flag carefully and avoid letting it touch the ground or nearby objects.
- Displaying the Flag
- Display the Maldives flag in a clear and respected position.
- Ensure the flag can move freely without tangling or rubbing against nearby structures.
- Flying the Flag at Half-Mast
- For solemn occasions, raise the flag to the top first, then lower it to the half-mast position.
- When lowering the flag from half-mast, raise it back to the top before lowering it completely.
- Sunrise and Sunset
- Where appropriate, raise the flag at sunrise and lower it at sunset.
- If flown overnight, make sure the flag is visible and well-lit.
- Weather Conditions
- Avoid flying the flag during severe weather, storms or high winds.
- Make sure the flag is fully dry before folding or storing it.
- Retirement of the Flag
- When the flag becomes worn, faded or damaged beyond repair, retire it respectfully.
- For ceremonial or official retirement, follow relevant local guidance where available.
With proper care, your Maldives flag will remain suitable for clean, respectful display over time.
