Care Instructions

Help keep your Knitted Polyester Mauritania Flag looking its best by following these simple care and handling guidelines.

1. Cleaning
   • Gentle Wash: Wash using a mild detergent to help preserve the fabric and colours. Avoid bleach and harsh cleaning products.
   • Machine Wash: If machine washing, use a cold, gentle cycle and place the flag inside a mesh laundry bag for added protection.
   • Air Dry: Lay the flag flat or hang it to dry naturally. Avoid tumble drying, as excessive heat may damage the fabric.
2. Storage
   • Ensure the flag is completely dry before storing. Keep it in a cool, dry place away from moisture and direct sunlight.
3. Folding the Flag
   • Lay the flag flat on a clean surface with the crescent and star facing upward.
   • Fold it lengthwise, then fold again to form a narrower rectangle.
   • Continue folding into neat sections while keeping the emblem visible.
   • For longer-term storage, gently roll the folded flag into a loose cylinder to help minimise creasing.
4. Handling
   • Avoid contact with sharp objects or rough surfaces that may snag the fabric.
   • Ensure the flag is securely attached before flying to reduce unnecessary strain.
   • For maximum lifespan, remove the flag during severe weather or when not in use for extended periods.
5. Repairs & Replacement
   • Minor damage can often be professionally repaired to extend the life of the flag.
   • If the flag becomes heavily faded or worn, replacing it will ensure a professional appearance.

Flying the Mauritania Flag

• Raising the Flag
  • Header with Loops: Attach the reinforced loops securely using suitable clips or rope.
  • Vertical Sleeve: Slide the sleeve over a compatible flagpole and ensure the flag hangs freely.
  • Raise the flag smoothly until fully extended, ensuring it does not touch the ground.
• Displaying the Flag
  • Display the flag with the crescent and star clearly visible.
  • For indoor displays, position the flag where it can be viewed without obstruction and protected from damage.
• Half-Mast Display
  • When flown at half-mast, first raise the flag to the top of the pole before lowering it to the halfway position.
  • When lowering the flag, raise it back to the top before bringing it down completely.
• Daily Flag Etiquette
  • Raise the flag at sunrise and lower it at sunset unless it is properly illuminated overnight.
  • Fly the flag at full height except during recognised periods of mourning.
• Weather Conditions
  • Remove the flag during strong winds, storms or extreme weather to help extend its lifespan.
  • Although knitted polyester is suitable for everyday outdoor use, reducing unnecessary exposure to severe weather will help maintain its appearance.
• Flag Retirement
  • When the flag is no longer suitable for display due to wear or fading, retire or dispose of it respectfully in accordance with local customs.

Following these care recommendations will help maintain your Mauritania Flag's appearance and extend its service life.
