Care Guidelines for the Mozambique Flag

1. Cleaning:
   • Wash gently with mild detergent to help preserve colours and reduce fading.
   • If machine washing is needed, use a cold gentle cycle and place the flag in a mesh laundry bag to help prevent snags.
   • Air dry only. Do not tumble dry, as heat may damage the fabric.
2. Storage:
   • Make sure the flag is completely dry before storing.
   • Store in a cool, dry place away from moisture and direct heat.
3. Folding:
   • Lay the flag flat on a clean, smooth surface.
   • Fold it neatly from the hoist side toward the fly side, keeping the fabric aligned.
   • Continue folding until the flag is compact and ready for storage.
4. Handling:
   • Keep the flag away from sharp objects and rough surfaces to avoid snags or tears.
   • Ensure the flag is securely attached when displayed to reduce strain on the fabric.
   • Remove the flag during extreme weather or overnight to help extend its life.
5. Repairs and Replacement:
   • Small tears or fraying should be repaired promptly where possible.
   • If the flag shows significant wear, consider replacing it so it remains presentable for display.

Flying the Mozambique Flag

• Raising the flag: Ensure the flag is clean and securely attached before raising it.
• Displaying the flag: Display the Mozambique flag with the red triangle at the hoist side and the green stripe at the top.
• Half-mast display: Raise the flag to the top first, then lower it to the half-mast position when required.
• Sunrise and sunset: Raise the flag during daylight hours and lower it at sunset unless it is properly lit at night.
• Weather conditions: Avoid flying the flag in harsh weather, high winds or heavy rain to help prevent damage.
