1. Cleaning:
   • Gentle Washing: Use a mild detergent to clean the flag and prevent fading. Avoid using bleach or harsh chemicals that could damage the fabric’s colours.
   • Machine Wash: If machine washing is necessary, select a gentle cycle with cold water. Place the flag in a mesh laundry bag to protect it from snagging.
   • Air Drying: Lay the flag flat or hang it to air dry. Avoid tumble drying, as high heat may shrink or weaken the material.
2. Storage:
   • Proper Storage: Ensure the flag is completely dry before storing it in a cool, dry location to prevent moisture damage and mildew.
3. Folding the Paraguay Flag:
   • Begin by laying the flag flat with the red stripe at the top, ensuring the flag is free of wrinkles or creases.
   • Fold the flag lengthwise in half, bringing the red stripe to meet the blue stripe, ensuring the colours remain visible.
   • Fold the flag in half lengthwise again, aligning the edges neatly to maintain a symmetrical fold.
   • Starting at the hoist side (the side closest to the flagpole), make a triangular fold by folding one corner diagonally towards the opposite edge, forming a triangle.
   • Continue folding the flag in triangular sections, ensuring each fold is tight and the flag retains its rectangular shape.
   • Once the flag is fully folded, ensure the triangle at the end holds the last fold securely in place. The final fold should display the flag’s colours on the outside, with the national emblem side facing outward.
4. Handling:

  • Begin by hoisting the flag briskly, ensuring it is raised to the top of the flagpole.
  • As the flag ascends, ensure it does not touch the ground. It should be raised high and proud to show respect for the national symbol.
  • Never raise the flag in a hurried or careless manner; it should be raised with dignity.
• Displaying the Flag:
  • When displayed vertically, the flag should be positioned with the national emblem facing outward.
  • When flown horizontally, ensure the flag is oriented so the red stripe is at the top, followed by white and blue.
  • If displayed with other flags, ensure the Paraguay flag is placed at the same height or higher than others, in a position of equal prominence.
• Flying the Flag Half-Mast:

  • The flag should be raised at sunrise and lowered at sunset, unless it is illuminated overnight.
  • Ensure the flag is taken down promptly at sunset, unless it is displayed with proper lighting to keep it visible at night.
  • During sunrise, raise the flag briskly to full height to honour the start of the day.
• Weather Conditions:
  • Avoid flying the flag in severe weather conditions, such as strong winds, heavy rain, or snow, as these can cause damage to the fabric.
  • If the flag is flown during harsh weather, it should be taken down immediately to prevent wear and tear.
  • In windy conditions, consider using a flag made from more durable material to withstand the elements.
• Retirement of the Flag:
  • When the flag becomes worn, faded, or damaged beyond repair, it should be retired respectfully.
