Follow these care guidelines to help maintain the appearance and condition of your Sierra Leone flag.
Cleaning
- Gentle washing: Wash with a mild detergent to help minimise fading. Do not use bleach or harsh chemicals.
- Machine washing: When machine washing is necessary, use cold water and a gentle cycle. Place the flag inside a mesh laundry bag for added protection.

Folding the Sierra Leone Flag

Flying the Sierra Leone Flag
Raising the Flag
- Header with Loops: Attach the loops securely to the halyard or compatible pole fittings.
- Vertical Sleeve: Slide the sleeve carefully over a compatible flagpole and make sure it fits securely.
- Raise the flag smoothly and make sure it does not touch the ground.
Displaying the Flag
- Display the Sierra Leone flag with the green band at the top, followed by white and blue.
- When displaying it with other flags, follow the applicable flag protocol for the venue or occasion.
- Position the flag so it is clearly visible and does not come into contact with walls, floors or nearby objects.
Flying at Half-Mast
- Raise the flag to the top of the pole before lowering it to the half-mast position.
