To maintain the flag’s durability and vivid colours, adhere to these care instructions:

1. Cleaning:
   • Gentle Washing: Use a mild detergent to clean the flag, preventing fading and maintaining colour vibrancy. Harsh chemicals like bleach should be avoided.
   • Machine Wash: If machine washing is necessary, select a gentle cycle with cold water and place the flag in a mesh laundry bag to prevent damage.
   • Air Drying: Lay the flag flat or hang it to air dry. Avoid using a tumble dryer, as excessive heat can cause shrinkage or weaken the fabric.
2. Storage:
   • Proper Storage: Always store the flag completely dry to prevent mould or mildew. Keep it in a cool, dry location away from direct sunlight.
3. Folding the Spain Flag:
   • Lay the flag flat on a clean, dry surface with the national coat of arms facing up.
   • Fold the flag lengthwise so that the red and yellow stripes remain visible, ensuring the edges align neatly.
   • Fold it lengthwise again, maintaining the proportions and keeping the coat of arms in view.
   • Make a series of horizontal folds until the flag is compact and rectangular, keeping the emblem as centred as possible.
   • Smooth out any creases gently by hand to maintain a crisp and neat appearance.
   • Store the folded flag in a cool, dry place to protect it from moisture and dust.
4. Handling:

  • Vertical Sleeve: Slide the flagpole through the sleeve until it reaches the top, making sure the flag is fully extended and positioned correctly before securing it in place.
  • Hoist the flag briskly and steadily to the top of the pole, displaying it with pride and respect.
  • If raising multiple flags, Spain’s national flag should always take the place of prominence, ideally at the highest position or in the centre when displayed with others.
• Displaying the Flag:
  • The Spain flag must always be displayed in a position of honour, not touching the ground, floor, or water.
  • When mounted on a wall, the flag should be hung horizontally or vertically, with the coat of arms positioned correctly and facing forward.
  • If displayed indoors, it should be placed on a stand or against a backdrop where it remains clearly visible and unobstructed.
• Flying the Flag at Half-Mast:
  • To fly the flag at half-mast, first raise it fully to the top of the pole, then slowly lower it to a position where it is about halfway down.
  • This signifies mourning and respect for national tragedies, solemn occasions, or the passing of significant figures.
  • Before lowering the flag at the end of the day, it should first be raised back to the top before being brought down completely.
