To help maintain the flag's vivid colours and extend its lifespan, please follow these care guidelines:

1. Cleaning:
   • Gentle Washing: Use a mild detergent to help maintain the brightness of the colours. Avoid bleach and other harsh substances that may cause fading.
   • Machine Wash: If machine washing is necessary, use a cold, gentle cycle. Placing the flag in a mesh laundry bag can help protect it during the wash.
   • Air Drying: Lay flat or hang the flag to dry naturally. Avoid tumble dryers, as high heat can affect the fabric’s shape and longevity.
2. Storage:
   • Proper Storage: Make sure the flag is completely dry before putting it away. Store it in a clean, dry space, away from moisture and direct sunlight.
3. Folding the Venezuela Flag:
   • Lay the flag out on a clean, flat surface with the yellow stripe at the top and the stars facing upward.
   • Fold the flag in half lengthwise, carefully bringing the bottom edge (red stripe) up to align with the top edge (yellow stripe), keeping the stars visible.
   • Fold it lengthwise again, resulting in a long, narrow rectangle.
   • Starting from the fly end (the side opposite the header), make a series of tidy, rectangular folds toward the hoist, keeping each fold even and aligned.
   • Once fully folded, tuck in the final section securely to hold the shape and prevent it from unfolding.
   • Store the flag in a dry, clean location, preferably in a protective case or fabric bag to avoid dust or moisture.
4. Handling:
   • Avoid Sharp Objects: Keep the flag clear of rough surfaces or edges that could snag or damage the fabric.
   • Secure Installation: Make sure the flag is properly mounted to avoid stress points that could lead to tears.
   • Minimise Exposure: Take the flag down during heavy weather or overnight to help preserve its quality.
5. Repairs:
   • Minor Repairs: For small issues like loose stitching, consider temporary removal and having the flag repaired by a professional.

Flying the Venezuela Flag:

• Raising the Flag:
  • For Header with Loops, attach the sister clips to the pole’s hooks or rope system, making sure the flag hangs evenly before hoisting.
  • For Vertical Sleeve, slide the pole carefully through the side pocket until fully extended. The sleeve should fit snugly around the pole for a neat and secure display.
  • Always hoist the Venezuela flag briskly and with both hands to prevent it from touching the ground.
  • When flying alongside other flags, raise it simultaneously, making sure it is either at the same height or in the position of honour when flown with non-national flags.
• Displaying the Flag:
  • The yellow stripe must always be positioned at the top when hung horizontally or at the right when displayed vertically.
  • If displayed against a wall, the flag should lie flat with the yellow on top.
  • When flown with other national flags, they must all be of equal size and on separate poles at the same height.
• Flying the Flag Half-Mast:
  • To display the flag at half-mast, first raise it to the top of the pole briefly before lowering it to the halfway point.
  • During ceremonial lowering at day’s end or after the mourning period, it must first be hoisted to the top again before being taken down.

• Flag Etiquette During Sunrise and Sunset:
  • The flag should only be flown from sunrise to sunset unless it is properly illuminated in the dark.
  • It should be raised at dawn and lowered respectfully at dusk. Never leave the flag flying at night without proper lighting.
• Weather Conditions:
  • Avoid flying the Venezuela flag during severe weather, such as heavy rain or high winds, as this may cause damage or rapid wear.
  • If unexpected weather occurs, promptly lower and store the flag until conditions improve.
• Retirement of the Flag:
  • When the flag becomes too worn or faded, it should be replaced respectfully.
  • Old flags should not be simply discarded; instead, they may be retired through private respectful burning or delivered to an organisation that handles ceremonial flag retirements.
