Care & Maintenance

To maintain the durability and vibrant appearance of your Belgium flag, follow these care guidelines:

1. Cleaning
   • Gentle Washing: Use a mild detergent to help preserve colour. Avoid bleach or harsh chemicals.
   • Machine Wash: If needed, use a gentle cycle with cold water. Place the flag in a mesh laundry bag to prevent snagging.
   • Drying: Air dry by hanging or laying flat. Do not tumble dry, as heat may damage the fabric.
2. Storage
   • Ensure the flag is completely dry before storing. Keep in a cool, dry place to prevent moisture and mildew.
3. Folding the Flag
   • Lay the flag flat with the black stripe on the left.
   • Fold lengthwise so the shorter edges align, then fold again lengthwise.
   • Fold into neat triangular sections from one end until fully folded.

Flying & Display Guidelines

• Raising the Flag: Ensure the flag is clean and properly attached. Raise smoothly without letting it touch the ground.
• Display Orientation: When vertical, keep the black stripe on the left. When horizontal, the black stripe should be at the top.
• Half-Mast Display: Raise the flag to the top before lowering it halfway. Return it to full height before lowering completely.
• Daily Use: Raise at sunrise and lower before sunset where possible.
• Weather: Remove during strong winds or extreme conditions to prevent damage.
• Retirement: Replace the flag when worn and dispose of it respectfully according to local practices.
