1. Cleaning:
   • Wash Gently: Use a mild detergent to clean the flag, avoiding bleach or similar products that can cause fading.
   • Machine Wash: If machine washing is required, select a gentle cycle with cold water. Protect the flag by placing it in a mesh laundry bag to prevent snagging.
   • Drying: Air dry the flag by laying it flat or hanging it up. Refrain from using a tumble dryer, as high heat can lead to shrinkage and damage the fabric.
2. Storage:
   • Proper Storage: Ensure the flag is completely dry before storing. Keep it in a cool, dry place to prevent moisture damage.
3. Folding the Belgium Flag:
   • Lay the Flag Flat: Start by spreading the flag out on a flat, clean surface with the black stripe at the hoist side.
   • Fold Lengthwise: Fold the flag in half lengthwise, bringing the two long edges together so that the black stripe aligns with the red and yellow stripes.
   • Fold Again Lengthwise: Fold the flag in half lengthwise once more, making sure the colours are consistently aligned and the folds are straight.
   • Create a Long Strip: You should now have a long, narrow strip of the flag with the black, yellow, and red sections aligned vertically.
   • Fold into a Triangle: Starting from one end of the strip, fold the flag diagonally into a triangle shape, aligning the edges as you fold.
   • Continue Folding: Continue folding the flag into a series of triangles, maintaining the triangular shape until the entire flag is neatly folded.
   • Final Fold: Fold the remaining strip into a compact rectangle, ensuring the flag is evenly and securely folded.
4. Handling:
   • Avoid Sharp Objects: Keep the flag away from sharp items and surfaces that might cause snags, tears, or abrasions.
   • Secure Installation: Ensure the flag is properly hoisted and free from obstructions.

Flying the Belgium Flag:

• Raising the Flag:
  • Prepare the Flag: Ensure the flag is clean and free of any wrinkles or damage before raising it.
  • Position the Flagpole: Attach the flag securely to the pole, ensuring it is aligned correctly with the black stripe on the hoist side.
  • Hoist the Flag: Raise the flag smoothly and steadily, allowing it to unfurl completely. Avoid jerky movements that may cause the flag to tangle or become damaged.
• Displaying the Flag:
  • Correct Orientation: Position the flag with the black stripe on the left side when viewed from the front, with the yellow stripe in the middle and the red stripe on the right.
  • Height of Display: The flag should be flown at an appropriate height so that it is clearly visible and prominently displayed.
  • Respectful Display: Ensure the flag is displayed with dignity, avoiding contact with the ground or any objects that may cause it to become soiled or damaged.
• Flying the Flag Half-Mast:
  • Raising and Lowering: Raise the flag to the top of the pole first before lowering it to the half-mast position.
  • Position for Half-Mast: The flag should be lowered to a position approximately halfway down the flagpole. This position signifies mourning or respect and should be adjusted carefully to avoid any damage.
  • Return to Full-Mast: When the period of mourning or respect is over, raise the flag back to the full-mast position with the same care as when it was initially raised.
• Flag Etiquette During Sunrise and Sunset:
  • Raising at Sunrise: The flag should be hoisted at sunrise or when the area is light enough to ensure it is visible and presented properly.
  • Lowering at Sunset: At the end of the day, the flag should be taken down at sunset, or before darkness falls to maintain its dignity and to comply with flag etiquette.
• Weather Conditions:
  • Avoid Extreme Weather: Refrain from flying the flag during severe weather conditions such as strong winds, heavy rain, or snow to prevent damage.
  • Protect the Flag: If inclement weather is anticipated, take the flag down and store it properly to protect its condition.
• Retirement of the Flag:
