To maintain the durability and vibrant colours of your Malta flag, please follow these care instructions:

1. Cleaning:
   • Gentle Washing: Use a mild detergent to clean the flag and preserve its colours and fabric. Avoid bleach or harsh chemicals that could damage the material.
   • Machine Washing: If necessary, place the flag in a mesh laundry bag and set the washing machine to a gentle cycle with cold water to minimise potential damage.
   • Drying: Air dry the flag by laying it flat or hanging it up. Avoid tumble drying as excessive heat can cause shrinkage or harm the fabric.
2. Storage:
   • Proper Storage: Ensure the flag is fully dry before storing it to prevent mildew or mould. Store it in a cool, dry area, away from direct sunlight.
3. Folding the Malta Flag:
   • Start by laying the flag flat on a clean, smooth surface to avoid any wrinkles or creases before folding.
   • Fold the flag lengthwise in half, ensuring the top and bottom edges are aligned with the design facing outward.
   • Then, fold the flag widthwise, bringing the left and right edges together while keeping the emblem visible on the outside.
   • Continue folding by bringing both sides towards the centre in even thirds, ensuring each fold is aligned and neat.
   • For a compact finish, fold the flag into smaller sections, maintaining a tidy, rectangular shape with the emblem still visible on top.
4. Handling:
   • Avoid Sharp Objects: Keep the flag away from sharp surfaces or objects that could cause tears or snags.
   • Secure Installation: Ensure the flag is properly fastened and can move freely when displayed.

• Raising the Flag:
  • For Header with Loops: Securely attach the reinforced loops at the top of the flag to the flagpole or rope using the sister clips, ensuring a firm and stable connection. Once fastened, raise the flag to the desired position using the hoisting mechanism.
  • For Vertical Sleeve: Slide the flag’s vertical sleeve onto the flagpole, making sure it fits comfortably without any fabric bunching.
  • Raise the flag fully so it unfurls and flies freely, ensuring it does not touch the ground.
• Displaying the Flag:
  • When displaying the flag, ensure it is correctly oriented. The St. George’s Cross should always be positioned in the top-left corner when flown or hung horizontally.
  • For vertical displays, the St. George’s Cross should be on the right side to maintain the proper representation of Malta’s national identity.
  • The Malta flag should be displayed on its own pole, unless part of a multi-flag display, in which case it should take the position of honour, either at the highest point or on the farthest left (when displayed alongside other flags of equal height).
  • Always ensure the flag is displayed respectfully, keeping it from touching the ground and limiting exposure to harsh conditions.
• Flying the Flag at Half-Mast:
  • The Malta flag is flown at half-mast to signify mourning or respect, typically during national or public periods of tragedy.
  • To raise the flag to half-mast, first raise it to the top and then lower it to the halfway point.
  • When lowering the flag from half-mast, raise it to the top before bringing it down completely as a mark of respect.
• Flag Etiquette During Sunrise and Sunset:
  • The Malta flag should be raised at sunrise and lowered at sunset, flown at full height during daylight hours.
  • If the flag is illuminated at night, it can be flown after sunset, but should be taken down if it’s not properly lit.

• Weather Conditions:
