1. Cleaning:
   • Gentle Wash: Use a mild detergent to clean the flag, preserving its colour and fabric quality. Avoid bleach or harsh chemicals that could damage the material.
   • Machine Washing: If machine washing is necessary, place the flag in a mesh laundry bag and set the machine to a gentle cycle with cold water to protect it.
   • Drying: Lay the flag flat or hang it to air dry. Avoid tumble drying as high heat can cause the fabric to shrink or become damaged.
2. Storage:
   • Proper Storage: Ensure the flag is fully dry before storing it to prevent any moisture build-up, which could lead to mould or mildew. Store it in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight.
3. Folding the Monaco Flag:
   • Prepare the Surface: Begin by laying the flag flat on a clean, smooth surface. Gently smooth out any wrinkles to ensure a neat starting point.
   • First Lengthwise Fold: Bring the shorter edges together, folding the flag lengthwise with the red side facing out. Ensure the edges are neatly aligned.
   • Second Lengthwise Fold: Fold the flag lengthwise again, keeping the red side on the outside. Make sure the fabric lies flat and the edges are evenly aligned.
   • Fold into Thirds: Starting at one end, fold the flag in thirds, making sure each fold is even and consistent. The result should be a narrow strip.
   • Final Rectangle Fold: Fold the narrow strip into a compact rectangular shape, aligning all edges and ensuring no sharp creases.
   • Storage: Store the folded flag in a cool, dry place, away from heavy objects to preserve its shape and condition.
4. Handling:
   • Avoid Sharp Objects: Keep the flag away from sharp items or rough surfaces to prevent snags or tears.

  • Using the Vertical Sleeve: Slide the flag onto the pole by inserting the pole through the vertical sleeve. Ensure the sleeve fits snugly to prevent any slipping and ensures the flag hangs neatly without creases.
  • When raising the Monaco flag, do so in a respectful manner, lifting it briskly without twists. The flag should always be raised to the top of the pole, unless flown at half-mast.
