Monaco Flag Care Guidelines

To help maintain the quality and colour of your Monaco flag, follow these simple care guidelines.

1. Cleaning
   • Wash gently with mild detergent. Avoid bleach or harsh chemicals.
   • If machine washing is needed, use a gentle cold cycle and place the flag in a mesh laundry bag.
   • Air dry flat or hang naturally. Do not tumble dry.
2. Storage
   • Make sure the flag is completely dry before storing.
   • Store in a cool, dry place away from moisture.
3. Folding the Monaco Flag
   • Lay the flag flat on a clean surface and smooth out any creases.
   • Fold the flag lengthwise, keeping the red section visible on the outside.
   • Fold again lengthwise, keeping the edges aligned.
   • Fold into thirds, then fold into a neat rectangle.
   • Store carefully and avoid placing heavy items on top.

Flying the Monaco Flag

• Raising the Flag
  • For Header with Loops, attach the reinforced loops securely to the flagpole clips or rope.
  • For Vertical Sleeve, slide the flag onto the pole through the sleeve pocket and check that it sits smoothly.
  • Raise the flag smoothly and make sure it is not twisted.
• Displaying the Flag
  • The Monaco flag should be displayed with the red section on top and the white section on the bottom.
  • When displayed with other national flags, it should be shown at the same height and treated with equal respect.
  • Indoors, it may be displayed behind a podium or in a central position with other flags.
• Half-Mast Display
  • During periods of mourning or remembrance, lower the flag respectfully to half-mast.
  • Raise it to the top of the pole first, then lower it to the halfway position.
• Sunrise and Sunset
  • It is customary to raise the flag at sunrise and lower it at sunset.
  • If displayed after dark, the flag should be properly illuminated.
  • Handle the flag carefully and avoid letting it touch the ground.
• Weather Conditions
  • Avoid flying the flag during severe weather, strong winds or heavy rain.
