Product Care

To help maintain the appearance and longevity of your Fully Sewn Netherlands Flag, please follow these recommended care guidelines.

1. Cleaning
   • Gentle Washing: Hand wash using mild detergent to help preserve the fabric and colours. Avoid bleach or harsh chemicals.
   • Machine Washing: If machine washing is required, place the flag inside a mesh laundry bag and use a gentle cold-water cycle.
   • Drying: Air dry flat or hang naturally. Avoid tumble drying, as excessive heat may damage the fabric.
2. Storage
   • Safe Storage: Ensure the flag is completely dry before storing. Keep in a cool, dry location away from moisture and direct sunlight.
3. Folding the Netherlands Flag
   • Lay the flag flat on a clean surface with the red stripe facing upward.
   • Fold lengthwise so the red and white stripes meet, with the blue stripe facing outward.
   • Fold again lengthwise, keeping the edges aligned neatly.
   • Fold into even sections for compact storage.
   • Store in a breathable fabric bag or protective case to minimise dust and moisture exposure.
4. Handling
   • Avoid Sharp Surfaces: Keep away from rough edges or sharp objects that may snag the fabric.
   • Secure Display: Ensure the flag is attached securely and can move freely without excessive strain.
   • Weather Precautions: Remove the flag during severe weather or overnight where possible to extend product life.
5. Repairs & Replacement
   • Minor Repairs: Address small signs of wear early to help extend the lifespan of the flag.
   • Replacement: Replace flags showing significant fading, tearing, or wear for the best display presentation.

Flying the Netherlands Flag

• Raising the Flag
  • Ensure the flagpole is secure and stable before installation.
  • Header with Loops: Attach using halyard clips or ties through the reinforced loops.
  • Vertical Sleeve: Slide the pole through the sleeve and ensure the flag is aligned correctly before raising.
  • Raise and lower the flag smoothly to help prevent unnecessary fabric stress.
• Displaying the Flag
  • The Netherlands flag should be displayed with the red stripe at the top, followed by white and blue.
  • Ensure the flag remains clear of the ground and surrounding objects.
  • When displayed with other flags, position all flags respectfully and at equal height where appropriate.
• Half-Mast Display
  • Raise the flag fully before lowering it to the half-mast position.
  • When lowering for the day, return the flag briefly to full mast first.
• Sunrise & Sunset Etiquette
  • Traditionally, flags are raised at sunrise and lowered at sunset.
  • If displayed overnight, ensure the flag is adequately illuminated.
• Weather Conditions
  • Avoid flying the flag during severe weather conditions such as strong winds or storms.
  • Store the flag safely when not in use to help maximise its lifespan.

Proper care and handling will help maintain the appearance and performance of your Netherlands flag for years to come.
