1. Cleaning:
   • Gentle Washing: Use a mild detergent to clean the flag and maintain its rich colours and fabric integrity. Avoid bleach or other harsh chemicals.
   • Machine Washing: If needed, place the flag in a mesh laundry bag and wash on a gentle cycle with cold water to minimise wear.
   • Air Drying: Lay the flag flat or hang it to air dry. Avoid tumble drying, as high heat may damage or shrink the fabric.
2. Storage:
   • Dry Before Storing: Ensure the flag is completely dry to prevent mould or mildew. Store in a cool, dry location away from direct sunlight.
3. Folding the Philippines Flag:
   • Prepare the flag: Lay the flag flat on a clean, smooth surface with the design facing upwards.
   • First fold lengthwise: Gently fold the flag in half lengthwise, ensuring the edges are aligned. The white triangle (representing the sun) should remain visible on the outside.
   • Fold again lengthwise: Fold the flag once more along its length, keeping the edges straight and the design facing outwards.
   • Form a triangle: Begin at the hoist side (where the loops or sleeve are) and fold the flag diagonally to form a triangle. Continue folding the triangle over itself, ensuring each fold is neat and even.
   • Secure the fold: Once the flag is fully folded into a compact triangle, tuck the loose end into the fold to keep it securely in place.
4. Handling:
   • Prevent Snags: Keep the flag away from sharp objects or abrasive surfaces to avoid tears.
   • Secure Display: Ensure the flag is properly attached and can move freely without obstruction.

  • Attaching with Vertical Sleeve: Slide the flag’s vertical sleeve over the flagpole, ensuring a snug fit to prevent any movement or slippage.
  • Raise the flag slowly and with respect.
  • The flag should be raised to the top of the pole, with the red stripe at the bottom when fully hoisted.
• Displaying the Flag:
  • If displayed alongside other flags, place the Philippines flag in the position of honour—either at the far right or at the highest point when flown with multiple flags.
  • Indoors, position the flag prominently.
• Flying the Flag at Half-Mast:
  • The flag is flown at half-mast to honour the passing of a prominent leader or during national mourning periods.
  • To lower the flag to half-mast, raise it to the top first, then slowly lower it to the halfway point.
