1. Cleaning:
   • Gentle Washing: Use a mild detergent to clean the flag and protect its rich colours and fabric. Avoid bleach or harsh chemicals that may damage the material.
   • Machine Wash: If machine washing is necessary, place the flag in a mesh laundry bag and use a gentle cycle with cold water to prevent any harm.
   • Drying: Lay the flag flat or hang it to air dry. Do not tumble dry, as excessive heat may cause shrinkage or damage to the fabric.
2. Storage:
   • Proper Storage: Ensure the flag is completely dry before storing it to prevent mould or mildew. Store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to preserve its colours.
3. Folding the Qatar Flag:
   • Prepare the Flag: Lay the flag flat on a clean, smooth surface, ensuring the fabric is wrinkle-free.
   • First Fold (Lengthwise): Fold the flag in half lengthwise, bringing the hoist side (the side with the loops or sleeve) to meet the fly side, aligning the edges carefully.
   • Second Fold (Lengthwise): Fold the flag in half again lengthwise, bringing the two long edges together while ensuring the colours remain visible and the edges are straight.
   • Third Fold (Widthwise): Fold the flag into thirds, starting from the hoist side. Fold one end towards the centre, then bring the other end over it to form a compact rectangle.
   • Final Touches: Smooth out any wrinkles or creases, ensuring the flag is neatly folded with the colours displayed on the outside.
4. Handling:
   • Avoid Sharp Objects: Keep the flag away from sharp edges or rough surfaces to prevent snags or tears.

Flying the Qatar Flag:

• Raising the Flag:
  • Ensure the flag is securely attached to the flagpole, with the hoist side (the side with the loops or sleeve) positioned at the top.
  • Raise the flag smoothly and swiftly, making sure it does not touch the ground. The flag should be flown high, allowing its full design to be displayed.
  • The flag should be raised to the top of the pole, unless being flown at half-mast.
• Displaying the Flag:
  • The Qatar flag should be displayed with the white section at the hoist side (closest to the pole) and the maroon section facing outward.
  • Ensure the flag is fully extended, free of wrinkles or folds, so it is clearly visible from all angles.
  • When flying multiple flags, the Qatar flag should occupy a position of honour, at the same height or higher than other flags.
• Flying the Flag at Half-Mast:
  • To fly the flag at half-mast, first raise it to the top of the pole, then lower it to a point halfway between the top and bottom of the flagpole.
  • This gesture is typically used for mourning or remembrance. Keep the flag at half-mast for the appropriate duration, and return it to full height once the period of mourning has ended.
• Flag Etiquette at Sunrise and Sunset:
  • The flag should be raised at sunrise and lowered at sunset. If the flag is displayed overnight, ensure it is illuminated to maintain visibility.
  • If flying the flag at night without proper lighting, it is best to take the flag down to avoid damage from the elements.
• Weather Conditions:
  • The Qatar flag should be flown in fair weather. During storms, strong winds, or heavy rain, it is advisable to lower the flag to prevent damage.
  • If the flag is exposed to harsh weather, inspect it regularly for any signs of wear, and consider bringing it down to protect its condition.
• Retirement of the Flag:
  • When the flag becomes worn, torn, or faded beyond repair, it should be retired with respect.
