1. Cleaning:
   • Gentle Wash: Use a mild detergent to clean the flag, helping to preserve its colours and fabric. Avoid bleach or any harsh chemicals that could cause fading.
   • Machine Wash: If you must machine wash, place the flag inside a mesh laundry bag and use a gentle cycle with cold water to avoid damage.
   • Drying: Air dry the flag by laying it flat or hanging it up. Avoid tumble drying as the heat may shrink or damage the material.
2. Storage:
   • Proper Storage: Ensure the flag is fully dry before storing it to prevent mould or mildew. Store it in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight to maintain its colour and fabric integrity.
3. Folding the Russia Flag:
   • Start by laying the flag flat on a clean, smooth surface with the front side facing up.
   • Fold the flag lengthwise from the hoist side (the side with the grommets or loops) towards the fly side, ensuring the edges are aligned.
   • Next, fold the flag in half lengthwise, keeping the colours visible on the outside.
   • Continue folding the flag into a triangular shape, beginning from the hoist side, making sure each fold is even and crisp.
   • Maintain tight, uniform folds to preserve the flag’s integrity and ensure the colours remain intact.
   • The final fold should result in a neat, compact triangle, ready for storage or ceremonial display.
4. Handling:
   • Avoid Sharp Objects: Keep the flag away from sharp objects or rough surfaces to prevent snags, tears, or damage to the fabric.
   • Secure Installation: Ensure the flag is securely fastened and free to move in the wind for proper display.
   • Flag Exposure: To extend the lifespan of the flag, take it down during extreme weather conditions or at night to minimise exposure to harsh elements.
5. Repairs:

Flying the Russia Flag:

• Raising the Flag
  • Before raising the flag, ensure it is properly folded and ready for display.
  • Using the Header with Loops: Attach the reinforced loops at the top of the flag to the flagpole with clips or ropes, making sure the flag is securely fastened and can fly freely.
  • Using the Vertical Sleeve: Slide the flag’s side pocket (vertical sleeve) over the pole, ensuring it fits snugly and hangs evenly.
  • Raise the flag briskly, ensuring it doesn’t touch the ground, and allow it to fly freely at the top of the pole.
• Displaying the Flag
  • When displayed horizontally, the Russia flag should have the white stripe at the top, followed by the blue and red stripes.
  • When displayed alongside other flags, the Russia flag should be in the place of honour, positioned to the left of the observer or at the top of a flagpole in a group.
  • Never let the flag touch the ground or be used as a cover for objects or people.
• Flying the Flag at Half-Mast
  • To fly the Russia flag at half-mast, raise it to the top of the pole first, then lower it to the halfway point.
  • Ensure the flag remains in a respectful position and is not left at half-mast unnecessarily.

  • The flag should be raised at sunrise and lowered at sunset.

  • If flying the flag in strong winds, ensure the flagpole and attachments are sturdy to prevent potential damage.
• Retirement of the Flag
  • When the flag becomes tattered, faded, or damaged beyond repair, it should be retired respectfully.
  • The flag can be burned in a private ceremony or cut into pieces and buried in a dignified manner.
