To ensure the longevity and vibrant appearance of your Singapore flag, follow these care instructions:

1. Cleaning:
   • Wash Gently: Use a mild detergent to clean the flag, as this helps maintain its colour and fabric integrity. Avoid bleach or harsh chemicals that could damage the material.
   • Machine Wash: If machine washing is required, place the flag in a mesh laundry bag and set the machine to a gentle cycle with cold water to prevent any damage.
   • Drying: Lay the flag flat or hang it to air dry. Avoid using a tumble dryer, as high heat can cause the fabric to shrink or degrade.
2. Storage:
   • Proper Storage: Ensure the flag is fully dry before storing it to prevent any mould or mildew. Store it in a cool, dry location, away from direct sunlight.
3. Folding the Singapore Flag:
   • Begin by laying the flag flat on a clean, smooth surface.
   • Fold the flag lengthwise, aligning the red and white sections, with the crescent moon and stars on the red portion facing outward.
   • Fold the flag in half once more, ensuring the red section is on the outside and the flag remains compact.
   • Fold the flag into thirds, bringing the bottom edge towards the top, ensuring the folds are even and the flag maintains symmetry.
   • Continue folding until the flag is neatly compacted into a small rectangular shape, with the red section on the outside and the crescent moon and stars visible on the top fold.
4. Handling:
   • Avoid Sharp Objects: Keep the flag away from sharp objects or rough surfaces to prevent snags or tears.
   • Secure Installation: Ensure that the flag is securely attached and allowed to fly freely without obstruction.
   • Flag Exposure: To prolong the life of the flag, remove it during extreme weather conditions or at night to limit exposure to harsh elements.

Flying the Singapore Flag:

• Raising the Flag:
  • Attaching with Header and Loops: Secure the flag by fastening the reinforced loops at the top to the flagpole or rope using sister clips. Make sure the flag is firmly attached before raising it.
  • Attaching with Vertical Sleeve: Slide the flag’s vertical sleeve onto the flagpole, ensuring it fits securely and holds the flag in place.
  • The flag should be hoisted swiftly, ensuring it reaches the top of the flagpole without touching the ground. Always raise the flag with the crescent moon and five stars facing forward, ensuring they are visible to all observers.
  • When raising the flag at an official or public event, ensure it is flown at the same height as any other flags being displayed.
• Displaying the Flag:
  • For horizontal display, position the crescent moon and five stars in the top left corner, with the red portion of the flag on top.
  • For vertical display, the crescent moon and stars should be in the upper right corner, with the red section to the right.
  • Always ensure the flag does not touch the ground or floor, as a mark of respect for the national symbol.
• Flying the Flag at Half-Mast:
  • To fly the flag at half-mast, first raise it to the top of the flagpole and then lower it to the half-mast position to signify mourning or remembrance.
  • When lowering the flag from half-mast, raise it back to the top before bringing it down entirely, as a final gesture of respect.
• Flag Etiquette at Sunrise and Sunset:
  • The Singapore flag should be raised at sunrise and lowered at sunset. If flown overnight, ensure it is properly illuminated to maintain visibility.
  • When lowering the flag at sunset, do so with care, ensuring it is folded neatly and respectfully.
• Weather Conditions:
  • Avoid flying the Singapore flag in extreme weather conditions, such as heavy rain, strong winds, or thunderstorms, to prevent potential damage.
  • If flown in adverse weather, promptly remove the flag to protect its integrity.
• Retiring the Flag:
