1. Cleaning:
   • Wash Gently: Use a mild detergent to clean the flag and preserve its colours and fabric. Avoid bleach or harsh chemicals that may damage the material.
   • Machine Wash: If machine washing is necessary, place the flag in a mesh laundry bag and select a gentle cycle with cold water to protect the fabric.
   • Drying: Air dry the flag by laying it flat or hanging it. Do not tumble dry, as the heat may shrink or damage the material.
2. Storage:
   • Proper Storage: Ensure the flag is fully dry before storing to prevent the growth of mould or mildew. Keep it in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight.
3. Folding the Slovenia Flag:
   • Start by laying the flag flat on a clean, smooth surface, ensuring it is free from wrinkles and dirt.
   • Fold the flag lengthwise, bringing the hoist side (the side with the flagpole attachment) over to meet the fly side, aligning the edges neatly.
   • Fold the flag in half lengthwise once more, ensuring the colours and design remain visible and undisturbed.
   • Begin folding the flag into a triangular shape by folding the bottom corner diagonally upwards towards the top edge.
   • Continue folding the flag in triangular sections, making sure each fold overlaps the previous one neatly until the entire flag is compactly folded into a triangle.
   • Secure the final fold by tucking the remaining fabric into the last section, ensuring the flag is tightly folded without any loose edges.
4. Handling:
   • Avoid Sharp Objects: Keep the flag away from sharp objects or rough surfaces to prevent snags or tears.
   • Secure Installation: Ensure the flag is securely attached and can move freely when displayed.
   • Flag Exposure: To preserve the flag, remove it during extreme weather conditions or at night to limit exposure to harsh elements.

• Raising the Flag:

  • Using the Header with Loops: Position the reinforced loops at the top of the flag over the flagpole, ensuring they are securely placed and the flag hangs freely. Attach the flag with sister clips to keep it in place and prevent movement in windy conditions.
  • Using the Vertical Sleeve: Slide the flag’s vertical sleeve onto the flagpole, ensuring a snug fit and an even hang. Adjust the position as needed to ensure the flag is properly aligned.
  • Raise the flag swiftly, ensuring the Slovenian coat of arms is at the top left and facing the correct direction.
  • Display the flag in a prominent position, such as at the top of a flagpole, where it can be easily seen.
• Displaying the Flag:
  • The Slovenia flag should be flown with the coat of arms on the top left, with the white, blue, and red stripes arranged horizontally.
  • Ensure the flag is displayed neatly, free from wrinkles or damage.
  • When displayed alongside other flags, place the Slovenian flag in the place of honour, to the far left when viewed from the front.
• Flying the Flag at Half-Mast:
  • To fly the flag at half-mast, first raise it to the top, then lower it to the halfway point.
  • The flag should remain at half-mast to mark a national day of mourning or following the passing of a national figure.
  • Once lowered to half-mast, it should remain in that position for the designated period, typically from sunrise to sunset.
  • When lowering the flag from half-mast, briefly raise it to the top before bringing it down completely.
• Flag Etiquette During Sunrise and Sunset:
  • The flag should be raised at sunrise, and if illuminated at night, can remain flown until sunset.
  • If not illuminated, the flag should be lowered at sunset to protect it from the elements overnight.
  • If flown overnight, the flag must be properly lit to maintain visibility and respect.
• Weather Conditions:
  • Avoid flying the Slovenia flag during severe weather conditions such as storms, heavy rain, or high winds, as these could damage the fabric.
  • In extreme weather, it is advisable to remove the flag and store it safely in a dry place.
  • Flags should also be taken down during snow or ice storms to prevent damage.
