1. Cleaning:
   • Gentle Washing: Use a mild detergent and lukewarm water to preserve the fabric and colours. Avoid bleach or harsh chemicals.
   • Machine Wash: If necessary, place the flag in a mesh laundry bag and use a cold, gentle cycle to prevent damage.
   • Drying: Air dry by laying the flag flat or hanging it in a shaded area. Avoid tumble drying, as high heat may cause shrinkage or fabric weakening.
2. Storage:
   • Proper Storage: Dry the flag completely before storing it to prevent mould or mildew. Keep it in a cool, dry space, away from direct sunlight.
3. Folding the Thailand Flag:
   • Prepare the Flag: Lay the flag on a clean, flat surface with the blue stripe in the centre, bordered by the red and white stripes.
   • First Lengthwise Fold: Bring the bottom edge up to meet the top edge, keeping the stripes aligned, ensuring the blue remains central.
   • Second Lengthwise Fold: Repeat the fold lengthwise, creating a long, narrow strip while maintaining the flag’s tricolour arrangement.
   • Compact Folding: Fold the flag in even sections from one end to the other, forming a neat and manageable rectangle.
   • Proper Storage: Keep the folded flag in a dry, dust-free environment. For long-term storage, ensure it remains protected from moisture to prevent deterioration.
4. Handling:
   • Avoid Sharp Objects: Keep away from rough surfaces or sharp edges to prevent snags and tears.

• Raising the Flag:
  • Header with Loops: Securely attach the loops to the halyard using sister clips. Raise the flag evenly to avoid twisting.
  • Vertical Sleeve: Carefully slide the flagpole through the sleeve, aligning it properly before securing it in place.
  • Hoist the flag swiftly and respectfully, never letting it touch the ground.
  • According to Thai tradition, the flag is typically raised at 8:00 AM.
  • In official or ceremonial settings, unfurl the flag smoothly to prevent tangling.
• Displaying the Flag:
  • Always position the blue stripe in the centre, flanked by white and red.
  • When hung vertically, the blue stripe must remain in the middle, extending from top to bottom.
  • If displayed alongside other flags, the Thailand flag should hold the place of honour—either at the highest position or to the left when viewed from the front.
• Flying the Flag at Half-Mast:
  • Lower the flag to half-mast during national mourning or in remembrance of significant figures.
  • To position it correctly, first raise it to the top, then lower it to a point one-third down the flagpole.
  • When taking the flag down at the end of the day, raise it to full mast before lowering it completely.
• Flag Etiquette During Sunrise and Sunset:
  • The flag should be raised in the morning and taken down at sunset as per tradition.
  • If flown at night, it must be illuminated to ensure visibility.
  • Lowering the flag should be done slowly and respectfully to maintain its dignity.
• Weather Conditions:
  • Avoid flying the flag in extreme weather, such as heavy rain or strong winds, to prevent damage.
