1. Cleaning
   • Gentle Washing: Use a mild detergent to help preserve the flag's colours and fabric. Avoid bleach and harsh cleaning products.
   • Machine Washing: If machine washing is necessary, place the flag in a mesh laundry bag and use a gentle cold-water cycle.
   • Drying: Lay the flag flat or hang it to air dry. Avoid tumble drying, as excessive heat may damage the fabric.
2. Storage
   • Proper Storage: Ensure the flag is completely dry before storing. Keep it in a cool, dry location away from direct sunlight and moisture.
3. Folding the Togo Flag
   • Prepare the Flag: Lay the flag flat on a clean, dry surface with the green stripe on top and the red square with the white star positioned in the upper left corner.
   • First Fold: Fold the flag lengthwise by bringing the bottom edge up to meet the top edge.
   • Second Fold: Repeat the lengthwise fold, keeping the edges aligned and the red square visible.
   • Triangular Folding: Starting from the bottom right corner, fold diagonally toward the top edge to form a triangle. Continue folding evenly until complete.
   • Final Step & Storage: Once folded into a compact triangle, store the flag in a cool, dry place away from moisture and direct sunlight.
4. Handling
   • Protect from Damage: Keep the flag away from sharp objects and abrasive surfaces to prevent tears and snags.
   • Securely Display: Ensure the flag is properly attached so it can move freely without excessive strain.
   • Weather Considerations: For maximum lifespan, remove the flag during extreme weather conditions or overnight when practical.
5. Repairs & Replacement

Flying the Togo Flag

• Raising the Flag
  • Ensure the flag is fully unfolded and free from tangles before raising.
  • Secure the flag properly to the pole or halyard.
  • Raise the flag smoothly and respectfully.
  • When displayed alongside other national flags, the Togo flag should not be flown lower than the others.
• Displaying the Flag
  • Always display the flag in the correct orientation, with the red square and white star positioned in the upper left corner when displayed horizontally.
  • Allow the flag to fly freely without obstruction.
