Turkey Flag Care Instructions

To help maintain the appearance and longevity of your Turkey Flag, follow these simple care and handling guidelines.

1. Cleaning
   • Gentle Washing: Hand wash using cold water and a mild detergent to help preserve the flag's colours and fabric.
   • Machine Washing: If required, wash on a gentle cycle inside a mesh laundry bag.
   • Drying: Air dry by hanging or laying the flag flat. Avoid tumble drying.
2. Storage
   • Store Dry: Ensure the flag is completely dry before storage.
   • Cool, Dry Location: Store away from moisture and direct sunlight when not in use.
3. Folding the Turkey Flag
   • Lay the flag flat on a clean surface with the design facing upward.
   • Fold the flag in half lengthways, keeping the crescent and star visible.
   • Fold in half again while maintaining a neat rectangular shape.
   • Continue folding evenly from the fly end toward the hoist end.
   • Store neatly to minimise creasing and fabric stress.
4. Handling & Display
   • Avoid contact with sharp objects or abrasive surfaces.
   • Secure the flag properly to minimise excessive movement and wear.
   • Lower the flag during severe weather conditions where practical.
5. Repairs

Flying the Turkey Flag

• Raising the Flag
  • Inspect the flag before use to ensure it is clean and in good condition.
  • Attach securely using the appropriate clips, loops, or sleeve fitting.
  • Raise the flag smoothly and ensure it is displayed correctly.
• Displaying the Flag
  • Ensure the crescent and star are clearly visible and correctly oriented.
  • Keep the flag free from twists, excessive folds, and obstructions.
  • When displayed with other flags, follow local protocols and display requirements.
• Half-Mast Display
  • Raise the flag fully before lowering it to the half-mast position.
  • When lowering, briefly return it to the top before bringing it down completely.
• Day and Night Display
  • Traditionally, flags are raised at sunrise and lowered at sunset.
  • If flown overnight, appropriate illumination is recommended.
• Weather Conditions
