To help preserve the quality and vibrant colours of your Turkey flag, follow these care guidelines:

1. Cleaning
   • Gentle washing: Wash the flag using a mild detergent. Avoid bleach and other harsh chemicals that may damage the fabric.
   • Machine washing: If machine washing is necessary, use cold water on a gentle cycle. Place the flag in a mesh laundry bag for added protection.
   • Air drying: Lay the flag flat or hang it to air dry. Avoid tumble drying, as excessive heat may shrink or weaken the material.
2. Storage
   • Store completely dry: Make sure the flag is fully dry before storing it in a cool, dry place to help prevent moisture damage and colour fading.
3. Folding the Turkey Flag
   • Lay the flag flat: Place it on a clean, flat surface with the red field facing upwards.
   • Fold lengthwise: Bring the top edge down to meet the bottom edge while keeping the white crescent and star visible.
   • Fold again: Repeat the lengthwise fold while maintaining the flag’s rectangular shape.
   • Create a compact fold: Starting from the fly end, fold the flag in small, even sections towards the hoist end.
   • Keep the edges neat: Smooth each fold to minimise wrinkles and creases.
4. Handling

Flying the Turkey Flag

• Raising the Flag
  • Check that the flag is clean, secure and free from damage before raising it.
  • For a Header with Loops finish, attach the flag using suitable snap hooks or clips. For a Vertical Sleeve finish, slide the pole through the sleeve and allow the flag to hang naturally without twisting.
  • Hoist the flag briskly and respectfully to the top of the flagpole.
  • Make sure the flag is upright and that the red field, white crescent and star are clearly visible.
• Displaying the Flag
  • When displayed vertically on a wall, position the crescent and star so they face the viewer and the flag maintains its correct orientation.
  • When displayed horizontally, keep the flag flat and fully extended without unnecessary folds or creases.
  • When flown with other flags, place the Turkey flag in an appropriate position of prominence.
• Flying the Flag at Half-Mast
  • During periods of national mourning, the Turkey flag may be flown at half-mast.
  • Raise the flag fully to the top of the pole before slowly lowering it to the half-mast position.
  • Before lowering it completely, return the flag briefly to the top of the pole.
