1. Cleaning
   • Gentle Washing: Use a mild detergent and avoid harsh chemicals or bleach.
   • Machine Washing: If machine washing, use a delicate cycle with cold water and place the flag in a mesh laundry bag.
   • Air Drying: Hang the flag to air dry or lay it flat. Avoid tumble drying, as excessive heat may affect the fabric.
2. Storage
   • Proper Storage: Ensure the flag is completely dry before storing. Keep it in a cool, dry location away from moisture.
3. Folding the United Arab Emirates Flag
   • Lay the flag flat with the colours facing upward.
   • Fold lengthwise from right to left, aligning the edges neatly.
   • Fold again lengthwise from left to right, keeping the red section visible on the outside.
   • Begin folding into a triangle from the bottom edge toward the hoist side.
   • Continue folding in a triangular pattern until compact.
   • Tuck any remaining fabric into the final fold to secure the flag.
4. Handling

Flying the United Arab Emirates Flag

• Raising the Flag
  • Header with Loops: Attach the loops to the halyard using sister clips before hoisting.
  • Vertical Sleeve: Slide the sleeve over the display pole and secure as required.
  • Ensure the red vertical stripe is positioned closest to the flagpole, with the green, white, and black stripes displayed from top to bottom.
• Displaying the Flag
  • Display the flag in a prominent position and avoid allowing it to touch the ground.
  • When displayed against a wall, the red stripe should appear on the viewer's left.
  • When hung vertically, maintain the correct orientation of the colours.
• Flying at Half-Mast
  • Raise the flag to the top of the pole before lowering it to the half-mast position.
  • When lowering the flag, first return it to the top before bringing it down completely.
• Sunrise and Sunset Etiquette
  • Raise the flag at sunrise and lower it at sunset unless suitably illuminated for night display.
  • Lower the flag carefully to prevent it from touching the ground.
