To maintain the longevity and vibrant appearance of your Vietnam Flag, follow these care guidelines:

1. Cleaning
   • Gentle Washing: Clean with a mild detergent to help preserve the flag's appearance. Avoid bleach or harsh chemicals that may damage the fabric.
   • Machine Wash: If machine washing, use a gentle cycle with cold water. Placing the flag in a mesh laundry bag can help minimise wear.
   • Air Drying: Lay the flag flat or hang it to dry naturally. Avoid tumble drying, as excessive heat may damage the fabric.
2. Storage
   • Proper Storage: Ensure the flag is completely dry before storing. Keep it in a cool, dry location away from moisture.
3. Folding the Vietnam Flag
   • Lay the flag horizontally with the red field facing upward and the yellow star upright.
   • Fold the flag lengthwise, aligning the top and bottom edges.
   • Fold lengthwise again while keeping the central star visible.
   • Fold into neat rectangular sections from the fly end toward the hoist side.
   • Smooth any wrinkles and maintain crisp folds to help preserve the fabric.
   • Store the folded flag in a clean, dry area, preferably in a protective cover.
4. Handling
   • Avoid Sharp Objects: Keep the flag away from rough surfaces and sharp objects that may cause damage.
   • Secure Installation: Ensure the flag is attached securely to minimise unnecessary stress on the fabric.

5. Repairs

Flying the Vietnam Flag

• Raising the Flag
  • For flags with a Header with Loops finish, attach the sister clips to the reinforced loops and secure them to the halyard before hoisting.
  • For flags with a Vertical Sleeve finish, slide the sleeve onto the pole and ensure the flag is correctly aligned before display.
  • Raise the flag smoothly and securely to the top of the flagpole.
  • Display the flag with the yellow star upright and facing outward.
  • Avoid allowing the flag to touch the ground or surrounding objects.
• Displaying the Flag
  • When displayed with other national flags, ensure all flags are of equal size and properly positioned.
  • When displayed alongside non-national flags, position the Vietnam flag prominently.
  • Indoor displays may be mounted on a pole or displayed flat with the star centred and upright.
• Flying at Half-Mast
  • Raise the flag to the peak before lowering it to the half-mast position.
  • When lowering, return the flag to the top before bringing it down completely.
• Sunrise and Sunset Display
  • Traditionally, flags are raised at sunrise and lowered at sunset unless appropriately illuminated.
  • Handle the flag respectfully during raising and lowering procedures.
• Weather Conditions
