To maintain the longevity and vibrant colours of your flag, follow these care guidelines:

1. Cleaning:
   • Gentle Washing: Use a mild detergent to clean the flag, helping maintain its brightness. Avoid using bleach or harsh chemicals that may damage the fabric.
   • Machine Wash: If using a washing machine, select a gentle cycle with cold water. To prevent snags or wear, place the flag in a mesh laundry bag.
   • Air Drying: Lay the flag flat or hang it to dry naturally. Avoid tumble drying, as high heat can cause shrinkage or fabric damage.
2. Storage:
   • Proper Storage: Make sure the flag is fully dry before storing it. Keep it in a cool, dry location, protected from moisture.
3. Folding the Vietnam Flag:
   • Hold the flag horizontally, with the red field facing up and the gold star upright.
   • Fold the flag lengthwise, aligning the top edge with the bottom edge, keeping the star visible.
   • Fold again lengthwise, preserving the central star's visibility.
   • From the fly end, fold the flag into neat rectangular sections until you reach the hoist side.
   • Smooth out any wrinkles and maintain crisp folds to preserve the fabric’s shape.
   • Store the folded flag in a clean, dry area, ideally in a protective cover, to prevent dust or moisture from affecting it.
4. Handling:
   • Avoid Sharp Objects: Keep the flag away from rough surfaces or sharp items that may tear the fabric.

Flying the Vietnam Flag:

• Raising the Flag:
  • For flags with a header and loops, attach the sister clips to the reinforced loops and secure them to the halyard before hoisting.
  • For flags with a vertical sleeve, simply slide the sleeve over the pole, making sure the flag is properly aligned and facing the correct direction before display.
  • Raise the flag briskly to the top of the flagpole with respect and care.
  • Always hoist the flag so that the gold star is upright and centred, facing outward from the building.
  • Avoid allowing the flag to touch the ground or surrounding objects.
• Displaying the Flag:
  • When displayed alongside other national flags, the Vietnam flag should be of equal size and placed in a position of prominence.
  • If displayed with non-national flags (such as company or state banners), the Vietnam flag should be raised higher or placed to the viewer’s left.
  • Indoors, the flag may be mounted on a pole or draped flat, with the star at the centre.
• Flying the Flag at Half-Mast:
  • To signal mourning or remembrance, raise the flag to the top of the pole, then lower it to the halfway point.
  • When taking it down, raise it to the peak before lowering it fully.
  • Half-masting is typically observed during national mourning or official directives.
• Flag Etiquette During Sunrise and Sunset:
  • Raise the Vietnam flag at sunrise and lower it at sunset, unless illuminated.
