1. Cleaning:
   • Gentle Washing: Use a mild detergent when cleaning the flag to help maintain its bright appearance. Avoid bleach or any abrasive chemicals that may harm the fabric.
   • Machine Wash: If using a washing machine, opt for a gentle cycle with cold water. Placing the flag in a mesh laundry bag can help prevent snags or wear.
   • Air Drying: Lay the flag flat or hang it to dry naturally. Avoid tumble drying, as high heat can shrink or damage the material.
2. Storage:
   • Proper Storage: Make sure the flag is completely dry before putting it away. Store it in a cool, dry, and protected space to avoid exposure to moisture.
3. Folding the Vietnam Flag:
   • Begin by holding the flag horizontally, with the red field facing up and the gold star positioned upright.
   • Fold the flag in half lengthwise, carefully aligning the top edge with the bottom edge, keeping the star visible.
   • Repeat the lengthwise fold once more, maintaining the shape and visibility of the central star.
   • Starting from the fly end (the edge opposite the hoist), fold the flag into equal, neat rectangular sections until you reach the hoist side.
   • Smooth out any wrinkles and keep the folds crisp to preserve the fabric’s shape.
   • Store the folded flag in a clean, dry area, ideally within a protective cover, to prevent dust or moisture from affecting the material.
4. Handling:

Flying the Vietnam Flag:

• Raising the Flag:
  • For flags with a header and loops, attach the sister clips to the reinforced loops and secure them to the halyard (flag rope) before hoisting.
  • For flags with a vertical sleeve, simply slide the sleeve over the pole so it fits securely, with the flag properly aligned and facing the correct direction before display.
  • The national flag should be raised briskly to the top of the flagpole in a respectful and deliberate manner.
  • Always hoist the flag so that the gold star is upright and centred against the red background, facing outward from the building or structure.
  • Avoid allowing the flag to touch the ground or any surrounding objects during the process.
• Displaying the Flag:
  • When flown alongside other national flags, the Vietnam flag should be of equal size and placed in a position of prominence.
  • If displayed with non-national flags (such as company or state banners), the Vietnam flag must always be hoisted higher or to the viewer’s left.
